I've built a few old and new school comp bikes over the last year but I'm yet to find one I feel is a good fit for me. I don't like how extreme modern bikes are yet I feel older ones are a bit dated...I wanted something in the middle.
That's when I found this Ozonys Cannibal for sale, it's exactly what I was after with a geometry modern enough to still be competitive but not so extreme I can't ride it, its light, stiff and has a few smart features.
I had a few parts left over from previous comp bike builds but I wanted this one to be the ultimate bike with a dream spec so with the help of the brands listed above (as well as buying some of the other parts) I managed to gather together the best parts on the market.
This is also my first time trying tubeless on a comp bike, if it works then it could be a game changer!
I'm stoked on how the build turned out! This is a bike I could only have dreamed of back in 2012...here's hoping my riding can do it justice!
So what do you think?
Thanks for watching!

    Holy Shit, that Headset Installation with the Hammer and without grease hurt for days!!! 😭

  • @viggobeck7015

    @viggobeck7015

    3 жыл бұрын

    Just curious, (i've never assembled a headset from bare frame b4) what's the purpose of the grease in the cup-frame interface? usually you put grease to prevent seizing, (like in bb threads or freehub body) but it doesn't seem like you'd ever need to take off an interference fit headset cup.... insight?

  • @peglor

    @peglor

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@viggobeck7015 The layer of grease means less force for installing and removing, less chance of damage to the surface finish on the parts as they slide over each other and, especially on a trials bike where there are massive and repeated shock loadings to the head tube with no suspension to damp them out, slightly less chance of it creaking. Every trials bike I've ever owned will start to creak at the headset after a few weeks use if it's not doing it from new already despite this though. Every suspension fork I've ever used creaks at the steerer-crown/crown-stanchion interface if you load up the front wheel for pivots and similar too, so you can't win on this one. Interestingly Tartybikes recommends installing headset bearings dry in bikes such as the new Echo/GU models with tapered steerers where the headset cups and crown race are machined surfaces in the headtube and fork crown.

    @@peglor aaahhhh.... i see. makes sense. i've run into a couple creaks like that. that makes sense that it would be the cup, especially for nose pivots like you were saying.

  • @Ali_Clarkson

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks :D this hose isn't rated for the extra pressures disc brakes put on them...magura rims brakes have a lot lower mechanical advantage and doesn't generate the same fluid pressure as a disc brake, this means magura rim brake hose is just a plastic tube...disc brake hose has a kevlar (I think) weave which stops the hose from expanding under high pressures...sadly you can't get clear tubing for a disc brake yet

    I love it! Maybe lock on grips. I really like the shape and feel of those Aaron Gwin grips ODI makes. I gave them a try after you talked about the shape in a past video. They have replaced the Elite Pro as my new default. After breaking one chain I never buy/use the light weight stuff for any bike. I do miss the cute thief 🐈

    Yeah the Gwin grips would work well (had them on my Echo) but I couldn't resist the colour coding with these orange ones :P I miss him too, not seen him since Feb and I think he no longer lives in the area I used to live in either so i can't visit him :(

    Whoa... What? That's insane. Fixed rear sprocket, freewheel at the cranks. I mean I guess it makes sense. The other day I realized a Schwinn Varsity (74 ish) I've been holding on to has a freewheel in the front sprocket. Blew my mind. Now this? Absolutely nuts but so cool

    Looks really nice. I'm intrigued by the headset set top. Mostly because I have a old DMR transition 26 with straight steerer/headtube which limits what forks I could fit.. So fitting that Hope cup by be an answer. cheers

    Headset is cool mod/tweak. Not worth bothering with the press, use the vice and Magura block clamps and a nylon mallet.

    I actually searched online for clamping blocks but couldn't find ones for MTB, that's the only reason I bought that press as I just couldn't find anything else I thought was suitable :(
