Finally it’s time to take my timber frame cabin up to the lake property and put it together! I am so excited with how it turned out. This cabin is made using traditional timber frame joinery made of Douglas fir, Western Red Cedar and Yellow Cedar. Make sure you also check out my previous video to see how I made all the parts for the new cabin (10x10 shed) in my shop. Thanks for following along!

Love how you leave in the real emotions of woodworking. Not everything goes to plan. There’s nothing like feeling almost totally defeated or that you’ve wasted so much energy on something, only to rise up and make that sucker brilliant!
Words cannot begin to describe how incredible that sound of the chisel slicing through wood so easily sounds! Such a beautiful sound.
I can imagine a great great grandkid replacing that window someday, finding the yellow cedar, snapping a photo and sending it to family because that’s one of those handmade details that remind them that you made this and they know the story behind it. My family has a history of carpentry, welding, and leatherwork. Those little imperfections that have a story behind them are oddly cherished by future generations.
This was beautiful. The long lens shot when you were working on the rafters with the trees in the background was fantastic.

Was thinking the same. Simply beautiful !
One of my fondest memories as a 16 yr old apprentice carpenter was walking the top plate covered in morning dew as the sun slowly rose above the trees in the rolling hills of Austin Texas. I also learned when it starts raining, we go home or to the bar... ha.
as an old custom furniture maker, I know a talented woodworker when i see one, you sir are one.
Absolutely Loving this off grid build series!! So cool to watch everything and everyone. Thanks for sharing and keep up the fantastic work!!!!!👍
Nothing better than sipping an Old Fashioned nice and cozy watching Samurai bust his ass in the rain. Thumbs up!
I really appreciate you not hiding your mistakes. Makes me feel much better about myself knowing a high level seasoned professional still makes mistakes. Everyone is human.
Awesome! I can't wait to see it complete.
Absolutely beautiful, in 100 years your great grandchildren’s kids will still look in awe at this structure wondering how you built this all by hand, hopefully this video survives the generations of technological advance so they can watch.
Its fun to see how you adapt to issues and problems. When I watch Mr Chickadee it's like I'm watching the T-1000 of woodworking. Dudes a machine, never f's up. I like seeing the human side because I sure as slht will f something up. Thanks for the videos.
really liking this series
So satisfying to see all that joinery come together!
It's a pleasure to watch you build something that adds to the beauty of the place.
That shot at 12:00 is gorgeous. I made an audible gasp when I first saw it. So beautiful.
truly impressive, ive been a carpenter for 20 years, and very impressive my man.
Waited your whole life to show off your craftsmanship, Jessi I love it thank you!!!!!!!!!!
Most of the video I was asking myself “why timber frame” and when you put the last piece in, I said “that’s why”. Unreal! Great work
Mr. Chickadee would be an awesome friend to have at this moment.

Why on Earth would you want a Mute burn Samurai's timber?
You took something as simple as a cabin and turned it into your benchmark work, a real beautiful structure.
Princess Auto is a two hour drive from my home. Thank God because it is a dangerous place. I would spend loads of money there and then have to hide what I bought from the missus. Love the vids, keep em coming Samurai.
That went well. Mother Nature likes to remind a person who's the boss now and again.

What a beautiful structure. As a wood worker, this was such a pleasure to watch! Thanks for the great videos!
Best video since the workbench Jesse. Love this build.
I'm impressed with how well you kept your cool when you had to add one non-matching timber to your cabin. I'm not sure I would have taken it so well!!

Awesome job. A true Craftsman. I'm happy for you that you can have this journey.
Awsome and beautiful my friend! A carpenter 35 years myself. Built my own house myself in northern NM two years ago. Still working on interior plastas i watch your video now😂
Man i miss the Pacific Northwest. I miss just being outside for so long on such hushed cool misty or even steadily rainy days, that you just forget everything is even wet at that point
Beautiful! I'm writing a book about the importance of doing hard things in our lives, and I use the analogy of building a timber frame cabin as the highest form of adventure. It takes intention, perseverance, blood, sweat, and tears. And the journey is worth it. It provides an environment for respite after adventures as well as a headquarters for planning and preparing for the next one. I'm looking forward to building something like this myself one day!
Its impressive to see the difference between being gym fit and being work fit!

It’s way sexier carrying big timber than lifting big weights in a gym… trust me! 😉
We get so obsessed with wood movement as a community, but what is forgotten is that we have the skills to adapt in such a situation. Sucks to adjust the mortises, but no one stays in the business because it all goes to plan. Nice work.
Watching these cabin/lake vids bring back the memories of visiting my extended family out on Quadra. They have an immense cabin that they built on Main lake. Pure feels.
Beautiful work. What a view. Thank you for sharing.
She’s a beaut my man! Inspiring work as always!
Very impressive. I’m in BC on the Pacific coast for the very first time this week and I’ve fallen in love with the place. Your work definitely speaks to the soul of the region. Look forward to what’s next.
Way to thank the friend who helped you!
I'm glad you're back on the old KZread's posting more. this has been an awesome series to follow! congrats on your property dude!👍🏻
I’m so impressed that you soldiered on and just made a new piece. I am always hit with “measuring twice, cut once.” I’m measuring three times and still something goes off.
Looks great. Thanks for showing us.
"I'm Gainin' On It" should be your mantra. Fantastic work that will be there for generations of family and friends.
what a great series SC!! As a fellow trim carpenter its great to see you excited about something again...makes me feel all good inside
That's the most elegant shed I've ever seen. Nice work Jesse.
Watching you build all our dreams
You are so much fun to watch!! Your work is absolutely beautiful and you are meticulous and detail conscious. "It's the Samurai Way". I love it when a person Imagines and then Creates. It's like you dragged another reality into the present. Beautiful work my friend. Best Regards.
That is such a great video. This whole project is awesome. Samurai, you are living the dream, and have the guts to do it. You are an example to us all. Keep these videos coming.
Beautiful work, great skills.
Beautiful work, it's a joy to watch.
Have been looking forward to this!!! Cant wait to see the next video. Beautiful work!
This build is absolutely awesome, I have great admiration for your skills and for your perseverance to deal with and overcome set backs!
Im from Russia, Republic of Ingushetiya! I like you do it, thanks!
What a pleasant sound the sharp chisel makes ...
Even when you struggle you make it look easy
samurai joinery and the natural beauty of bc marry so well. thanks for the great content.
Just WOW!
I can't wait to see this thing finished and basking in that amazing landscape. Epic work as usual.
I'm just starting to learn traditional English timber framing after spending my career so far doing boat building/modern domestic carpentry. I love Your videos because they show me the possibilities of this line of work and are really educational. Keep finessing it!👌
It’s gorgeous and you once again knocked it out of the park! Such badass skills! Thanks for another awesome video.
Absolutely beautiful craftmanship
Absolutely beautiful
That shot at 12:07 is amazing
I admire you for your patience!!
Great work. Never gets old. Keep it up!
Beautiful design, Great alignment. Subtle yet stated. Brilliant!
So satisfying to watch that building come together. I wish I had your skills!
I'm entranced by the beauty of nature, interrupted by intermittent carpentry happenings. On the one hand I wish more people could see this beauty, but on the other, I am honestly glad they are distracted by the garbage that consumes them. Leave the beauty of nature to us.
Fricken sick! I've framed for 20 years and have been bored with standard technique since the start, your inspiration is refreshing
Stunning, just stunning.
Genius planning and execution
Feel the frustration bud, end product is top class. Keep on chooching samurai 🤟
Beautiful workmanship and the views in the background…WOW. It’s unfortunate you got that rain. Great work as usual 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂
Beautiful!
beautiful work
Frame did indeed go up and looks awesome. Have a great week.
You are a true Craftsman, Beautiful Work!!

Dude that's just off the hook Beautiful details !!!
Fantastic work!!!
this is why i started watching you years ago you are the best go Canada
Awesome job, great craftsmanship
BEAUTIFUL
Truly amazing
Incredible
Hi Jesse. I’m a Canadian living in Japan for over 10 years now and plan to return to Canada 🇨🇦 within a few years. Lived in Victoria myself for 7 years, then Vancouver. My dream is to build an off- grid cabin. You have made me consider building a timber frame cabin like yours. All homes in Japan are timber frame. I will need to learn. I’m not an experienced carpenter like you. I completely understand and agree with your lifestyle choice. Thank you.
That framing looks amazing!
Incredible work
Dam it so beautiful there, outstanding work guys.
Fantastic!
Looks awesome!!
It's really a beautiful piece of artwork.
Fantastic job Jessie..........looks cool !!
Love the craftsmanship and attention to detail. Excellent work! Love to see your passion for quality fulfilled again and again in the kind of work you do. Truly inspiring stuff. Please keep the vids coming!
12:00 what a view❤️
Really loving this series. The scenery is stunning and must be so nice building your own space there.
I feel like this kind of wood expansion is the reason historically there were specific seasons when buildings were built. I'm sure it had more to do with farming and free time, but reliable humidity and lack of rain would help a lot:)

When things dry out, which may be never there, wont those joints open up that 1/16"? and with mortise and tenon, making almost an 1/8"? beautiful work though!
Attention to detail! very nice.
Considering the quality and design effort you'd put into this shed, I can hardly wait to see what your cabin that you'll be building next year will look like! Congratulations and thanks for sharing with us.
This will be an amazing shed on a beautiful location. Absolutely love it! The level of carpentry is completely mind blowing :) Thanks for the amazing content! You guys are really inspiring me.
Awesome! Absolutely love it!
Early Saturday morning coffe in hand enjoying this calming video, miles away from all the crap that surrounds us. Thank you!
