Yo yo yo! We're finally back with another episode!! In today's junkyard scavenger hunt, I found this Acura TSX covered in mud with a sweet looking steering wheel inside of it! I decided to take this home for $70 bucks (most expensive part on the car so far) and throw it inside of our junkyard civic build! You guys know I was searching for RSX and Honda Fit steering wheels, but this doesn't look too bad in the Civic! In this video I show you guys exactly how I retrofit this TSX steering wheel into a 2000 Honda Civic. It's essentially plug and play with a few modifications! Let me know what yall think about it!

Maybe you can fiberglas or bondo over the buttonholes when you pull them out. That way you can have clean trim pieces without buttons

Wheels are interchangeable (and retain air bags) You can also retrofit the SWC to work as well Welcome back ❤❤

I did the rsx wheel in my ej8 with the single stage jdm airbag such a clean look it was one of my favorite swaps for the 6th gens. The tsx looks just as good !
Another overlooked steering wheel is the Honda insight. Same as the S2K :)

Awesome job but I would highly recommend re doing that solder job on the airbag. It looked like some cold solders that will end up cracking overtime, im sure its fine but still something that caught my eye! keep on building !

I love this. I'm all about finding things that are compatible or easily adapted between models. I love the look of that wheel and since I don't trust the recalled airbags or the replacements in our 1998 Civic EX I just might give this a go given that the 2005 Acura TSX was not featured in the recalls that I've seen.

Why didn't you just unplugged it from airbag side?
I did something similar, with an Integra I changed the whole setup from 4 lugs to 5, bigger rims and stylish from RSX aluminum 16"- before I had 14" steelies, bigger disc brakes from a 99 Crv and I also got new Prelude axles. It ran just right, too right actually.

just binged this whole series. My brother had an ep2 and decided to give it to me but there are couple thing wrong with it but this guy gives me hope that most of my issues are minor. (Dead battery, no catalytic converter, mouldy seats and wheel)

You’ve got yourself 1 more sub, very intriguing content
Pretty sure you can rest easy with that airbag. The side curtain airbags have their own sensors. It's also possible in that TSX model to say hit a vehicle that was also moving it reduces the de-acceleration G-Forces. If it was going 70 mph and the car in front was going 60 mph it would make for a 10 mph point of contact. I've also read cases where if the seatbelt sensors in the TSX weren't working and they didn't contract correctly it could cause the steering wheel airbag to not deploy. They also had a TCM/ECM corrosion recall. I would think logically the airbag's control system could be corroded as well leading to strange things as well. In your civic I think it'll do a great job!

Made me giggle when you said the T30 (Torx) Bit is a special Tool, if you work on what the US calls "Euro" cars at all, you'll see there's almost nothing you can take off without using a Torx Bit 😂 Keep it up, love this Built Series 💪

no need to cut the wires on airbag. you can swap them, they can be disconnected directly from airbag.
