Building my 289 SBF Engine | SPECIAL GUEST | 1966 Mustang Fastback

FYI, this is NOT a how to. There are plenty of KZread videos out there that document step by step, with a much higher degree of skill, on building a Small Block Ford. Learned this painting technique from @UncleTonysGarage If you have questions on what I did, how I did it, etc. I'm more than happy to answer in the comments, but I am far from a pro.

a windage tray like what Ford offered for the 289 would be an asset to the hp figures in the upper rpm range.
Awesome, I can't wait to here this thing scream! I like the colors too. :)

@SlowInFastOut1776 absolutely! He's a cool dude.
I liked the idea of every part you install rotate the crank that way you know something is up and where .

Oops, may not be, pros..Damn old age...
Way back in 1982 I built the 289 in my 67 cougar. Tried to get as close as i could to the HP motor. Bored .60, TRWs 10-1 flatops. Melling phase II cam. .460 lift .288 duration. Headers & Holley 600cfm. Ran very well, use to eat up the Z 28s and IROCs around town. Never knew what horsepower it was putting out. Years later I dropped it in a 1965 F 100.

at 6: 22 it looks like .001 not .010 but my eyes are getting old

You are correct, it showed .001 (though, it was closer to the white .015 after re-checking) which is on the tighter end but in spec. Thanks for keeping me honest!
since you pointed it out, what happened to the back window and how hard was or is it to find a replacement ?

It was very easy - there’s a company on eBay that sells all of the glass for these, both clear & green tint. They were great to work with.
It’s looking sweet! Which motor mounts are those?

Thanks! They’re Ron Morris adjustable mounts. I believe I’ll have a short video about them coming up (lost track of what I filmed).
