Building Estrogen Naturally for Midlife Women

Estrogen is a key hormone that declines in midlife. Although our bodies are set up for this, many modern women suffer from debilitating symptoms associated with estrogen decline. Dull lifeless hair, premature aging of the skin, and aches and pains that resurface out of nowhere can all be signs of unhealthy estrogen decline.
There are so many things that you can do to maintain healthy hormone levels throughout midlife and yes, even through menopause. When you're able to help keep yourself nourished and balanced, you can prevent many of the symptoms we have come to expect and see as normal during menopause in Western culture.
In this video, I'll share some top foods, preparation hacks and lifestyle tips to support healthy estrogen levels throughout the perimenopause and menopause years.
Eastern Medicine has thousands of years of wisdom on how to bring the body back to balance and live with vitality at every stage of life!

    one thing missed here that is a source of phytoestrogens is flax seed - and for many of us soy (also phytoestrogen) is not a good food. Most soy is GMO and it is highly allergenic for many of us. When I had to stop taking estrogen for a medical reason and had unbearable hot flashes - flax seed stopped!!! them. That was proven when I was away on holiday, ran out of what I had taken with me (weight on my flight was an issue) - and back came the flashes in full unbearable force. I buy whole gold flaxseeds, grind them a bit at a time in a coffee grinder and keep them in the fridge. It took almost a half cup at the worst time years ago - now I just use a couple of tablespoons a day (age 76 now). I gave up on trying to use it in my cooking or sprinkle it on things and just mixed it up like pablum and spooned it down! If your ground flax is fresh and refrigerated it has little taste - rancid pre-ground stuff tastes fishy. I've told a few friends about this and it worked for them as well. I'm Swedish - so flax seed is a more normal food for me genetically than soy is.

    Beautiful! That's so great to hear. Thank you for sharing this. Yes flax is amazing and I highly recommend it as well. And I agree, soy can be problematic for some people. I always insist people get non-gmo organic and consume soy in it's whole/close to whole form (edamame, tempeh, tofu from non gmo source, 1 ingredient soy milk etc). I see in my practice so many issues that come when people think more is better and use the soy isolates and also don't diversify their foods. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and success with flax!

Navigating menopause or post menopause, I don't know which is the correct definition, has been a journey. Trying to find actual answers and knowing it is a natural part of our lives. Plus the symptoms I would have weren't the ones that seem to be the main complaints. I have been post since age 50 and I'm 66 now. Seems it’s not too bad, 😅 but I can make a few improvements. Also, I have ptsd related to a series of traumas. Will be looking for the other videos you mentioned. Do you have one you would particularly recommend? I did require a medication which I am weaning off. They wanted me on more, but I truly don’t think we know enough. There sadly has been no plan to get me off what I did accept….I have been going slow & doing well. Lots of time has passed, I have had therapy, and continue to educate & manage my situation. HUGE difference between now & then. 😊 Looking forward to watching more. Thanks again. ❤

    Yes lots that can be done for that. I'll do a recording soon but there are a few foundations of healthy insulin 1- make sure to reduce stress any way you can (watch my previous videos on resetting your nervous system) and reduce stimulants and quick energy foods (coffee and sugar). 2- some light intermittent fasting and opting for whole grains vs white flour products (ie brown rice vs white, bread with whole grains vs white etc). and lots of green foods. A few little suggestions that can make a big difference over time. And of course, check with your Doctor or health care provider for care specific to you

    This is a really good and important question. For this, it's really important that you work with a qualified practitioner that knows your specific history and can customize the food for your recovery based on your personal risk factors and needs. Having said that, so many of the foods that help keep hormonal pathways open and functioning well also have anti-cancer cancer properties. Cold pressed oils, leafy greens, whole foods, nuts and seeds etc. as part of a diverse and wholesome diet can have a profound impact on health, hormones and cancer healing and remission. I actually worked in a government funded integrative cancer centre in Canada for a number of years where they were funded to study the effects of this kind of diet, and other modalities and healing principles and it's effects on patient outcomes. The good news it works both in conjunction with western treatments and for remission and on it's own. I have a mini course that speaks to the foundations of healing based on these principles and the TCM approach if you're ever interested. You can find more here learn.yourradiantlife.ca/Integrative-Cancer-Care Thanks for your comment and I hope this was somewhat helpful. All the best with your healing!

    Most of the foods you mention are also SUPER HIGH OXALATES

  • @angela_warburton

    @angela_warburton

    20 минут бұрын

    Ah Oxalates. So oxalates aren't necessarily bad, and the foods that are high in oxalates also have many other huge benefits. The most important thing is to avoid them if you have a system that is reactive to them. Some people need to avoid them, it's true. Others can eat with no side effects/issues. I always suggest getting a variety of different foods (fruits/vegetables/protein sources etc.) as they all have different benefits. In my experience when someone sticks to one form of protein or one type of green (like a client I had that only ate spinach and developed a reaction to oxalates, or those who only ate soy as their protein and developed an allergy etc.), that is where we start to see problems. So first get diversity and try a mix of the different foods. Second, know your body and if you notice challenges, sensitivities (which can be done with the help of qualified natural health practitioner or observing reactions to foods etc.), avoiding or limiting depending on the case. Not a cut and dry answer. I appreciate your comment and post!

    Can we have too much estrogen?

  • @angela_warburton

    @angela_warburton

    7 күн бұрын

    This is a great question! If you work on building/maintaining healthy estrogen levels through lifestyle and food it's hard to get too much. You can get too much if you're using hormone replacement for estrogen, which is why it's so important to speak with/work with a qualified practitioner who's doing the prescribing and monitoring you closely. It's also possible to have too much estrogen in your system compared to the other hormones. This can be a result of your detox pathways and you're body not eliminating it 'effectively' in addition to a few other reasons. Everyone has their own unique ecosystem so it's important to listen to your body and understand the signs and symptoms when your body is off balance or speaking to you through symptoms. I'll be sharing more in the upcoming weeks about how to ready your body symptoms from and Eastern perspective and how it relates to hormones, so stay tuned :). Hopefully that's somewhat helpful!
