Congratulations on being a brand new father. I know the experience mine was almost 15 years ago. There's no feeling that comes close to being a father for the first time. I have a daughter who's the greatest gift I could of received. Your letter was heart felt and right on. Thanks for the woodworking inspiration and ideas. Thank you for sharing this experience with everyone.

It's not often that I need a tissue while watching a wood build video. What a lucky boy Cooper is! And, as an added note, your boxers are beautiful, too.

Hi Ryan, congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of your new baby boy. It was great to watch you create life with your boards while describing your new life and love for your son. I hope you save the letter, to give to him one day, at just the right moment. Every child born, should be so fortunate... and although you don't have "all the best tools", look what you've created! You won't have all the best tools when raising Cooper either, but you won't need them ... just the love, for your family and your craft. Life is so full of parallels, yes?

I should have worn safety glasses because I got sawdust in my eyes as well. My father taught me basic woodworking as a child and I then made a living in a one man woodworking shop located in my father's back yard. You are a lucky man to be able to make a living doing what you love for the family you love!! God Bless you and your family and thank you for sharing this wonderful video!!

Congratulations on the birth of your son may you make many wonderful and happy memories together through out the years ahead may they be filled with love, laughter and happiness. I love your letter to your son especially the part where you said to let the tears fall and not to be afraid of letting someone else seeing you cry, I fell in love with my husband for this same reason because he isn’t afraid to show that a man isn’t always strong. You are going to be a great father and your son will be a wonderful person.

Ryan sure am happy for you and your wife on your new born baby son. I have four children, two boys and two girls. Oldest is 62 yr old son an youngest is a 56 yr old son and two daughter in the middle. Being a Father is a wonderful gift from God that we should always cherish and thank God everyday. You reading your letter to your son brought back many good memories that I will always cherish. When my youngest son was born I worked three to eleven. We brought him home in the morning and put him on the davenport and I set on the floor in front of him and just looked at him until I had to go to work. Always make sure your children know that you and your wife will always love them unconditional as God loves us, I know you will. Time goes by so fast enjoy while you can. I really enjoy your work on your cutting broads and the different ideas you have. I have made a few cutting broads and I know they can be a challenge. You have a great future in your business in your Father hood. Keep up the good work and enjoy time goes by so fast. Bob

Hey Man, Congrats on becoming a dad, a father and a mentor. My youngest is 23 and every stage of the kids growing up has been awesome. Your son, (and future siblings??) already have a massive step up in life shown by your care and commitment to looking after and raising him (them). Heart warming to see that expressed so openly. Wishing you and your family all the best this world can offer. Cheers from Canada!

The letter to your son left me struggling to keep my composure. I sincerely wish I had done that for my sons. I can tell you are a good person, and will undoubtedly show that you are going to be a great dad. Good luck with your new family (and incentives to keep turning out good projects).

I definitely have! At the end of last year, I actually took all those end scraps I had been saving from the past 2 hours and made a dozen chaos boards. Made for some interesting looking boards.

You got me from the first words to your son. BUT the wise words from 8:38, if those intelligent words will be incorporated in your sons life and legacy, he will be a man doing a lot of good in this world. And we sure know, that all over the world, and not the least in the USA, more and more people think they know it all, and that hate and violence is the path to a good life ?!! Some of the people close to me I admire the most, for their wisdom, generosity, ability to make people around them be better versions of themselves, reduce negative thoughts, ect, are homosexuals. They know hate, they know violence, exclusion, they know many of the dark sides of life, and the worst in other people that could break kind and fragile souls (and every day of the years does break and kill many fine young men and women around the world), but somehow they've chosen the love and life over hate and violence. We can only inspire our children to be the best versions of themselves and from early on knowing the wise words you wrote to your son, and make our children understand the importance of "NEVER do anything against others you don't want others to do to the ones you love the most!" It's that easy, and yet SO hard. This amazing, unpredictable life. From a little girl inside an older body, with a long life of curiosity and adventures. Gliderpilot from age 17, who has travelled around the world, always on a budget, and at 27 went into a 17 year long Heroine addiction, and since then struggling a life without the 4 people I grew up with, the most amazing and healthy, generous, loving people, and always my best friends until they all died of different illnesses within 7 years (2004-2010), my 2 siblings and parents, and the fact I'm still here and they not, it makes no sense. Except for my beautiful and wise 25 year old daughter. May your wisdom and the unconditional love and respect from his parents and future siblings keep your son safe from the worst people, and still a confident young man, who has the courage to stand up for what is right and wrong - and wisely pick the right times and places to fight his battles! And remembering, in real life (except American presidential elections), there are almost always more than 2 choices, more than one "right way" to do things. "Friend or enemy" or "either you are 100 % with us or 100 % against us" is another war with no winners. Russia, North Korea, and other countries with dictators love this, as it keeps the 1 % insanely rich and powerful and sorrounded by 99 % people suffering, and ALL of them in a constantly fear of their lives. It kills creativity, progress, and all good things die. All my very best wishes to Cooper, mom, dad, all of you. ❤ /Pia, Denmark
