Never heard them called mortises. I call them pocket holes for pocket screws.

That’s cool, that’s what you learned to call them...pocket screws, mortise screws, face frame screws! You get the idea!

Mortise screws? No, those are pocket screws. I think calling pocket screwed joinery mortises is highly disingenuous. Square drive screws also just plain suck, they round out. Your assembly style leaves much to be desired.

You again, call them what you like. See definition below. I think you’re one of these people looking for an argument. I asked you on your other rude post to post a video showing the proper way to build Cabinets! I haven’t seen that yet... why not? noun mor·tise | \ ˈmȯr-təs \ variants: or less commonly mortice Collegiate Definition (Entry 1 of 2) : a hole, groove, or slot into or through which some other part of an arrangement of parts fits or passes especially : a cavity cut into a piece of material (such as timber) to receive a tenon - see DOVETAIL sense illustration

@@danobannon358 First of all, I'm not the one making videos, you are. Unfortunately you're putting out poor advice. Face frames don't get assembled with pocket screws, nor should you drive nails through them when mounting them (as you did in the other video I commented on). I join faces with a joinery tool (I use a festool Domino Joiner) which actually does make as strong a joint as a mortice and tenon. I use the same tool to mount the face frames to the carcasses. No metal fasteners, just wood and glue. No visible holes at all. You seem to want to go fast, and in so compromise the workmanship. It bums me out that you want to share that as if you're proud of it. If you can't do it well, don't do it.

@@OzrikKnob First of all, I am very quality oriented!!! I’m sorry we don’t build to your high standards but like I’ve said before, we are a production shop and build a very solid Cabinet that is affordable to many not just the wealthy high end clients! Also like I’ve said before we are not in the business of building high end furniture, that’s not what we do. We are a production Cabinet shop who like many other shops have been building Cabinets this way for many years and this fact is no secret. Good luck to you!

@@danobannon358 That's odd, all your videos say you're a CUSTOM shop, not a volume production shop. I produce custom pieces on site, not production line stuff. Maybe you should be more forthcoming with what you do.

@@OzrikKnobI’m a custom shop been doing it like that for years, pocket holes and glue and nailing frames on, use the right filler and nail placement and a guy like you would never see them. Would love to see a custom cabinet shop that doesn’t use pocket screws 🤨

you guys Waste too much when marking where the rails go. and you DO NOT start from the middle when making faceframe. you have to start from the corner. and when screwing your mid stile, instead of marking where it goes, just use a rail and push the mid stile against it and screw it, then grab the SAME rail and move it up and push the mid stile against it and screw it. AFTER you screw the rails.. that way you will have a perfectly square faceframe.

We’ve been doing it this way for 45 years with pretty good results but always open to new ways of perfecting our Craft. Please do a demonstration video and email it to me. Thanks for the advice!
