Building And Sleeping In A Bushcraft Shelter- Wood, Moss, Fern - Chilli Con Carne
On my wild camp this week I decided this week to make my own overnight bushcraft survival shelter out of wood, ferns and moss. The shelter took me around 4-5 hours to complete from finding and collecting all materials needed with a beer break in between. I was really chuffed with how the debris shelter turned out. I made it from pine and maple.
I had an awesome time making this shelter and will definitely be crafting some up in the future. There were loads of insects and bugs in the woods and many of them decided to join me in my sleeping bag in the night.
I made my first ever Chili con Carne which was absolutely delicious and i was really happy with it!!
A few beers were sunk and a lot of rubbish was chatted as always, just how i like it.
Thanks for joining me and i hope you enjoy the video!!

Amazing video mate! That one bit of beef mince trying to escape the pan really tested my OCD 🤣🤣🤣
Fire, forest, beers and chilli there’s not much more you need for a happy and content life
Your Maple is Sycamore, it is part of the Maple family, Sycamore is good for carving eating utensils because it is free from any wood toxins.

Natural shelters where you dont bring a tarp are all fun and games, unless you get moved on by a land owner just before its dark, not to mention catching the bus to your spot. (If it sounds oddly specific thats because it happend once.) I always carry a small tarp just in case after that, whether i plan to sleep in a natural shelter or not.

Great to see a cutting board.
I recently discovered your channel from a work friend a few days ago. He told me because he knew of my recent interest (start of the first lockdown) in foraging and bushcraft, and also being a true Suffolk boy.....I've been binge watching your episodes ever since like I've just discovered the series Breaking Bad all over again. 😆...Absolutely addicted, in other words.....It's great to see places I've been in your vids, and especially places I haven't yet. I'm often along the River Orwell with a fire and food, as that's on my doorstep...Loved your camp on the ship wreck, but I'm generally the other side of the river. I must check out the other side now. I've been leisurely planning my first wild camp the last few weeks, but upon seeing your vids, I'm like wanting to do this NOW. ..😆...But atm I've got to arrange it around busy shitty work ....... Sorry for the long arse yarn and life story, but I needed to reach out and let you know i think it's grand what you're doing and even more so with the honesty behind it.. Keep up the great work and maybe we'll cross paths along the River Orwell sometime. I'll do ya a burger. 😁👊

Really enjoyed this, 👍
Nice set up⛺️😎👍‼️. Maybeez the 20 orange kagool wearing muppets were shooting some mass dogging video😉🤣. Maple's more a 'smoking bacon wood', like apple & beech....🤤 smoked meat😍. Cooking suggestion for you: Mrs Crichton's beer bread recipe: (you can put the dry contents in a clipseal bag and mix it in the bag if you make it away from home in a camp oven). 1/2 cup caster sugar, 3 cups self-raising flour, one 375ml beer. Mix contents together (will be more like a paste than a dough), pour into greased/ lined baking tin. Cook at 190 degrees (UK temp, not USA temp🙄) for 40 mins.....times vary for outdoor cooking. I've also made it with trail mix in it & used honey Meade beer too. (Consistency is somewhere between bread & cake, it cuts better when cold...if it survives that long😋😍😋). Thanks on behalf of all your subscribers for continuing to create great content & urging us all to keep heading outdoors to feed our minds🤠⛺️👍...... and asks for putting me onto Camping with Josh ⛺️🇬🇧😎.

I've followed the wild camping/ bushcraft stuff on KZread for a good few years now. I can honestly say that of all the content I've viewed yours really is the best. For my own reasons not necessarily that it's the best or most insane stuff I've seen but more that I just find you endearing and kinda, strangely, enjoy your company! Hahaha. mad! I know! This year I began taking my 13 year old son out, seriously, wild camping. We're slowly building our gear which we'll upgrade once we have everything we need, as you do. So far we've done a bothy. A beach on the west coast of Scotland and up a fell in the lakes. We love it mate! I'm taking loads of this kinda content into our next planned trip which will be woodland. Can't wait man.! Might even tag you in a haribo pic in homage. Hahaha. Keep them coming Craig and keep pushing ma man. 💪 👌
