Another great habitat from the undisputed planet zoo goat!

I picked Planet Zoo up over Christmas in the sales and I've had great fun binging this series for inspiration and also to just generally learn the game. I can't produce anything close to as good as your exhibits but I'd like to think mine have improved since becoming a viewer. And obviously as elephants are the best animal at any zoo this is the best one yet. Chester's one of the few (possibly the only) zoos to almost always keep their bull with the cows and calves. Aung Bo is a very good dad, it's a shame he's moving some time soon. Funnily enough your exhibit is quite similar to the new one being built at Tierpark Berlin, which is definitely worth looking at if just because it's a hugely impressive building and series of enclosures. One interesting thing they will have there, and is currently at Schonbrunn among others, is a deep pool by the guests effectively giving underwater viewing. They're definitely a contrast to the one I know best, which is Whipsnade's giant field (and soon to be EVEN bigger, the largest one of any zoo, at least in Europe). There's so many different ways to design elephant enclosures, but I shall be shamelessly re-stealing your ideas for when I end up building one.

I agree. The waterfall enrichment is one of the ugliest and I never know what to do with it. The rockwork on it actually looks decent

Hey man I've only starting watching since Tuesday and I'm absolutely addicted! Can't wait to see the next exhibit in every episode. Loved the cappuchin and gibbon exhibit! I'm a huge reptile keeper/ enthusiast myself and would love to see more reptiles in the zoo!

You can have trees within the elephant enclosure by creating sort of islands of tall rocks, fill up the middle with soil and plant the trees in there. They'll stick out high enough above the elephants so that they do not ruin the branches and they can't reach the trunk either. I can't remember where, but I've seen it in a zoo before. It of course takes up a lot of space, but it does add a welcome splash of colour and plant life in what is otherwise a rather desert-like enclosure. But the enclosure you made already looks really cool! The diagonal bars on the fences are really clever.

Thanks for the tip, I actually did that for the Rhinos but I wanted a different look for the Elephants. They're going to get their own little forest next week anyway 😁

The walls also have holes in them at different heights that the keepers sporadically fill with treats from behind, really cool build immediately recognised it was Chester from the thumbnail 👍

i was so happy when i saw the slate pillars in the thumbnail, i love them oh so much and use them fairly frequently. if you go to my workshop there are 6 things im happy with in planzo, 5 of which being slate rocks and the other one being my makeshift pack

Question about the franchise masters tip: if guests can see another exhibit (ex. the elephants) from a different exhibit, wouldn't it result in them saying "the view of the African Elephants from here is bad"? (or whatever the exact complaint phrase is)

Are you currently building in franchise even with all of the issues? I don’t know when the money and conservation points became unlimited.. did I miss something?

No this is a sandbox version of a franchise save from the day after xmas. Franchise is working fine now but Frontier were unable to replace the 150 animals I lost so I'm currently working on buying them back. Once I do I will blueprint everything I've built since xmas and move it back to frachise. Hopefully for next week's episode!
