I love this! You put more thought into the comfort of the fish than the aesthetics of the table, which has resulted in a beautiful and extremely functional piece. Very well done! I’d love to have one of my own. 😊

This table arrived well packaged and on time. kzread.infoUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

What do you mean? Did you buy the table from the link and build it into an aquarium table?
Beautiful! To all the folks saying it “would be hard to clean”.... why? It would actually be EASIER than a standard aquarium... it’s lower to the ground and you can access the entire surface easily. It would be a joy to clean compared to some of my tanks! Great job, man... truly beautiful.

Nice build! One thing to consider is that those caster wheels you have it sitting on are a very small surface area, meaning that the entire weight of the tank (water + substrate + construction materials) (about 400 kg) is localized at a small point of contact. If the wheels are uneven then a majority of the weight could be sitting on one or two wheels. Probably not an issue if the support board the caster wheels are mounted to is solid wood, but something like mdf might shear under those conditions, causing the wheel assembly to puncture through the material and likely break the glass above.
Dude I love this one of the best builds.. exactly what I want to do! I really appreciate that you have the knowledge to actually care about the fish too and make this realistic for long term
Can you do an update video? I absolutely love this and just want more footage of how cool that coffee table is

To answer the most frequent questions I've had: 1. The wood has no issue holding it up, I spread out the load evenly on the 4 casters (wheels) which have square supports of 10cm edge length, so I have
@DanScottChannel
4 жыл бұрын
I think your tank is awesome and yes, the silicone that holds the glass is enough for the tank inself. However, the base "platform" should have some solid legs extending to the floor IMO, not just casters that are probably screwed in with relatively short screws correct? I suppose if the whole thing sits stationary, there is no danger but if one were to roll it and a caster became encumbered, the screws could possibly tear right out of the wood base and become compromised...

Greg's Channel hi Greg, isn’t this stressful for the fish? :(
@GregMakesThings

@@DanScottChannel It requires a lot of force to roll, so I haven't had any issues. Those casters are made to withstand 100kg each and it's a little less than that (plus when it's written 100kg it often means 200kg because of manufacturer margins)
@GregMakesThings

Looks very beautiful. But how did you solve to get enough light for you plants? LED Stripe isn’t bright enough, and I’m not sure if the plants like this kind of light.
@abigailf6021
4 жыл бұрын
e-surfer So long as low lights plants are used (Java fern, Anubias, etc) are used the plants will survive. Especially if there’s a nearby window, that’ll even suffice. Even fake silk or plastic plants (fish safe) are completely fine.
@sannaseesvalo2602
4 жыл бұрын
LED lights are used among aquascapers a lot. The essential things are the shade of the light and the quantity. And as Abigail said, there are plants that can grow in an aquarium with out any additional lighting except daylight (although you won't be seeing much of your aquarium without lights).

@GregMakesThings
4 жыл бұрын
I actually used very soft timber, spruce to be exact. It was mostly a price-oriented purchase, but it's still holding on without any issues after a few months :) As for the wheels, they only support about 80-100kg per wheel, so I just used standard rubber wheels that are supposed to hold 100kg but since manufacturers tend to have a 200%+ sturdiness margin, I just went for it :)
