Elm Hill City Zoo is the series of sandbox speed build videos where I design and build habitats and facility buildings.
Elm Hill City Zoo is my creation of typical older city zoo that is managed very well and has some of its parts renovated to suit the needs of animals and its guests. I am going to use some inspiration from the zoos I've been to as well as the photos and projects I collected on my Pinterest board.
Hope you will enjoy this video! If you have any recommendations or tips on how I could improve my future videos please let me know in the comments.
If you did enjoy the video please give this video a thumbs up, subscribe and ring the bell to be notified every time I upload a new video. Thank you so much and see you in the next episode! Bye guys!

    I agree that more "common" animals should be celebrated and added to zoos and the game itself. I'm brazilian and, to me, animals like capybaras, fore example, are really common, but for other players they are faaar away in the globe. When I visit Europe someday, I hope I can visit zoos as well and see some of those beautiful animals that, for my eyes, are really different!

    I live in Texas, and wild boar are a common sight around here. They get huge, and travel in large sounders. There's certain roads in my area that everyone knows not to drive down at dawn and dusk, otherwise your chance of hitting a boar on the road and having your car totaled are pretty high. They're such a problem with their numbers and how destructive they are, that Texas has a 'weapons free' policy on them as far as hunting goes. I think they're cool animals, and was happy when they were added to the game. Makes building a Texas themed zoo a lot easier lol.

  • @CesarCreates

    Hey Cesar! Great work as always, loved this build 🐗. In terms of the whole boar situation, I mean, although it is infact sad regarding the hunting parties, if we were to relocate them into deeper woods and forests, they would further breed and root out those places aswell, atleast to my knowledge they would. You also have to think that sometimes they aren’t just killed to be killed, their meat, fur, and tusks can be utilized for a variety of reasons. At the same time they can be very looked over, and in a controlled and stable population could be beneficial to the environment, so the topic overall is very mixed in thoughts and opinions. My apologies if this sounds weird I’m having one of those blank out days, but tried my best to explain regardless. 😅

    Not sure where you live, but here in Portugal we also have a control problem with Wild Boars due the lack of their main predator, Iberian Wolf. In the recent years the population of wolves almost went down to zero leading to a uncontroled growth of Wild Boar population, now what some associations are trying to do is to grow the wolves population once again and let nature do their work without hunters.

    I live in Northern part of Poland. There is a lot of forests in here so it's a perfect environment for them and it's a similar story in here. There is not enough of predators that could control their population. I think that what you just described is the best solution to that problem!

    The idea that people don't like the wild boar because it's common to their area is interesting. The game is sold nearly globally and not every place has wild boars. I've never seen one in my life. Just because it's common to you, doesn't mean it's common to everyone else.

As for the boars i know one person who had a baby wild boar as a pet, it was so cute and intelligent, i loved that boar. Wild boars are an environmental catastrophe here in Texas after they were released by irresponsible hunters a century ago. They've been a major factor in pushing some of our local wildlife to the brink of extinction. Our state government has also allowed unrestricted boar hunting, including from helicopters, but that has been a total failure. The boars have responded by going nocturnal. They're a very smart animal. Great habitat! Thanks for the video!

  • @alek8600

    @alek8600

    5 ай бұрын

    Yeah dude keep believing that the main reasons so many of the local wildlife is losing numbers is mainly because of the boars 🤦‍♂️ Humans are responsible for literally every dissappearing of an animal species, we need to start to look after ourselves instead of blaming other animals

  • @lynxface3214

    @lynxface3214

    @alek8600 Boars are an invasive species here in the Americas. Invasive species are incredibly destructive and can cause native wildlife to go extinct. Because boars are so adaptable and because one sow can produce several piglets, they’ve spread and have caused several problems for both native wildlife and people. Boars are regularly hunted in my area because they cause so much damage and have been known to be aggressive toward humans. I grew up having to worry about wild hogs when I went outside when I was little. Clearing them from an area where they don’t belong is beneficial to the native species and pets and children. Along with this, several hunters in my area use the boars’ meat for food. Although sad, animal populations have to be regulated in some way, including those of wild boars. If not, they’ll destroy other species, attack humans, and starve because of overpopulation.

  • @CesarCreates

    @CesarCreates

    5 ай бұрын

    Thank you so much! I am glad you liked the habitat! Yeah I agree with that controlling the populations is important but it's hard to me to accept that the only solution to this problem is killing the animals. It is probably the easiest but there should be different solutions such as contraceptives etc. I don't know, I am not the expert on those things. I especially hate that for so many people hunting is a form of entertainment... I really can't wrap my head around that... Where I live Boars are not invasive species. They are native to Europe and Poland. It's a totally different story with the invasive species influencing local populations. That should totally be controlled.

  • @lynxface3214

    @lynxface3214

    5 ай бұрын

    @@CesarCreates This is true; I know that here we trap, vaccinate, neuter, and release feral cats to prevent overpopulation. Perhaps the same could be done for some wild boars in areas near humans. It would be expensive, but it’s a nice alternative to hunting. You could also cut down the risk of zoonotic diseases by vaccinating wild animals and releasing them. I’ll need to do more research on boars in their natural habitat. I’m not entirely sure what their predators are. I would assume wolves, bears, and potentially lynxes, which have suffered from major habitat loss and are not as adaptable as boars, but I’m not sure. Part of the issue with animals in some areas is the loss of apex predators that need large amounts of territory to thrive. National parks, such as those in America, some parts of Africa, and other places, are crucial for protecting these species.

    @@CesarCreates right, so many people think America represents the whole world.. Boars are native to Europe, but even if an animal is invasive we live in 2024, we have resources and everything to install programs that would help those animals and the nature also. Not just kill for the sake of it to satisfy bloodthirsty humans. They "care" for the native population but what humans do with overpopulation, agriculture and factory farms and God knows how many other things causes far more damage than any "invasive" animal can.

Hope your little dogs OK. You know what would be cool if they had an invasive species pack? with the Burmese python in it? and the black and white Taegu and European Starling. in the vervet monkey. and an animal called the Indian Antelope. and the African rock python That pack would be bring awareness to invasive species.

    It is sad to hear boars get killed in your area. Over on the east coast of America, we have a similar issue but with deer. Thankfully the deer tend to be much less aggressive and destructive but they still cause issues with cars. The most important thing to note about the deer though is that their primary predator, wolves, no longer have a range that extends to the east coast . There's nothing that actively hunts them except maybe a cougar or bear that got desperate and came down from the mountains. In this scenario, there is nothing to control their population, so they will explode, eating so much grass and causing many more car accidents that it will be detrimental to the environment as well as society. Unfortunately, sometimes death is necessary to maintain the balance of life, and since we actively killed the apex predator here, we have to maintain the population ourselves. In my experience, trapping and moving the boars just means your putting the problem on someone else or some other town no matter how far into the forest you put them. They are coming out of the forest and into the city because there's too much competition in the forest and there's free food in the towns. I don't think moving them will change this, so I think they will keep looking for human settlements. I want there to be a better answer, but I'm not sure. Maybe there's a way to deter them with sounds, smells, spices, ect instead of killing? I wouldn't know but I hope a better solution can be found.

    Hunting 100% works, releasing them into deeper isolated places will cause most of them to die from starvation if they’ve lived off urban land and the food there. Hunting also helps with better genetics in the wild populations and prevents the carcass going to waste. Also a much cheaper solution for some people.

    Yeah I agree with that controlling the populations is important but it's hard to me to accept that the only solution to this problem is getting rid the animals. It is probably the easiest but there should be different solutions such as contraceptives etc. I don't know, I am not the expert on those things. I especially hate that for so many people hunting is a form of entertainment... I really can't wrap my head around that...

    Here in the US, especially Texas, wild boars are invasive as they are native to countries like Africa, Europe, and Asia. Their populations are crazy and land owners will even pay you to hunt them. Or you can pay to hunt them and even hunt them from a helicopter. I understand why your people aren’t big on the hunting, it makes sense over there but here, it’s necessary. They do destroy crops, plants, and mess with the native species as they have few predators.

    Cesar, don't fall on me on this, hunting is important like zoos, many animals are invasive (boars) or the older males go crazy and kill younger males so the population goes down (elephants) and many more reasons. Inform yourself on this, it's important, plus their meat won't go to waste, they are delicious afterall, and can also feed many people in need.

    @@CesarCreates I hunt irl and I love zoos aswell, I'm in the middle basically, I assure you that there are many hunters which do it for bringing healthy food on the table for their families, both by selling the meat and eating the meat themselves, also yeah there may be some that do it for fun and I even scolded many of them teaching them the ethical way of hunting and the passion behind it, with care and respect for the enviroment and the animals, the world where there is no need for hunting and no need for zoos is an uthopia sadly, we just have to do our best in this world so that the enviroment doesn't get destroyed, and sadly many animals do that not only humans, elephants destroying trees, boars eating everything and attacking people even children, coexistence can't exist with some animals and you must defend yourself and the ones you love that's the reality sadly, also it may be contradictory but many animals wouldn't exist without hunting for population control. The ones to blaim in this field are poachers, they kill with wrong equipment so they make the animals suffer a lot and they kill many without caring of the population. You are lucky because to you boars aren't invasive, but they could easily become invasive so hunters must keep them in check, they attack everything and everyone when approached, even children, and I think you wouldn't be happy if one of your loved ones would be injured by a boar or another animal, I hope you understand my friend, I wish you all the best❤
