Im a welder that grew up in decatur tx glad to see someone local posting full build videos.
Great video. I was a metal building erector for 40 years. Truly enjoyed my work. No one had equipment like you have then to pick up your steel. I only had a forklift but it done the job. Keep up the good work and vidoes. Utube can get your business started and make you some money. I subscribed. Looking forward for your next video.

As a field mechanic for united rentals off 287 and Harmon, I use these machines also and can’t agree more about the enclosed cab. It’s so nice! If you ever need anything we are right down the road!

Great video, just subscribed!! How thick does the slab & footers have to be for your inbeds to work?
@GatewayBuilders

We always do 24” footers, most of our slabs are monolithic 4”. Unless engineered differently
Yeah when you breathe in that dirt and dust you can very sick. I new someone who got Valley Fever from the dust. Valley fever is an infection caused by a fungus that lives in the soil.
Question: I don’t know if you BBC oils answer, but is a metal building suppose to wiggle once it has been finished?
Hey man amazing video. I’ve been searching all over youtube to find info about a build just like that to make my own personal gym and the content here it’s incredible. Any tips if I’ve wanted to get an stucco finished to match my house? Thank you

Thank you! I would put a stud wall up and decking if I was doing stucco. Or you may be able to drill the foam board to the exterior metal sheeting and do it that way. Not real sure on that one

@@GatewayBuilders Thank you for taking the time to reply. I think I might just do metal for the siding. Wood price is insane. For a 30’ x 50’ should I use on the walls I beam or 4”x4” square tubing?
@GatewayBuilders
3 жыл бұрын
@@luiscervantes5662 how tall do you want the side walls? Because we use 4x4 up to a 14ft side wall. Anything taller we bump up to ibeam typically but it depends on the complexity of the build.

@@GatewayBuilders Oh it should work cause I’m only planning on having them at 10-12’ so it should do the trick. Man I truly appreciate that you take the time to reply. Maybe further down the line when I’m ready to start the project if you have the time we could work something out like a consulting session or something. Either way I’ve taken a lot of information so far so thank you

Hello and greetings. I would like to thank you for recording such videos, which help people like me a lot. I have a request from you. My request is that you help me to build the halls I want. My hall has an opening of 30 meters, but without the middle column at a height of 6 meters. I want to know with what size H beam I can build these halls. I will build it. Of course, if the opening is 30 meters, it will answer. If it doesn't answer, I can make the opening of the shed up to 23 meters. I am waiting for your correct answer. I thank you again for your help. I wish you a good day.
@gateway builders Nice work. I am curious is this more cost-effective than ordering a prefab red iron building? What is the main reason for stick building versus prefab in this instance. Thanks for posting

It the moment weld up buildings are the most cost effective shop. Bolt ups are more expensive because your paying a material supplier to fabricate

Do y'all have a general rule of thumb when it comes to picking the size of your I-beams?
@GatewayBuilders
3 жыл бұрын
Yes depending on gable vs flat roofs we have different ibeam that support different weights. On a normal 30ft wide build we use 8” 15#, but on a 40ft wide we use 12” 16# or 19#.
Great video... until I saw made in Mexico on the Steel 😢
Really appreciate you showing how it is done. Do you weld some sort of plate to the top of your posts for the beam to sit on or is the post open at the top?
@GatewayBuilders

Thanks! It’s open then the beam gets welded all the way around the post opening to seal it up

If I want to have 40ft x 50ft clear span single slope what size ibeams would you recommend?
@GatewayBuilders

Me personally I wouldn’t want to go under 14”. It’s gonna naturally settle a little. But engineers would tell you 20-22”
@OffGrit

@@GatewayBuilders ok awesome. Have you built trusses for something like that? I am considering those as well, it is for our house so it is just as much an aesthetic thing we like the look of them... But want to go single slope for our water catchment and most of the trusses are 30' max and I am out in the middle of nowhere Arizona.
@GatewayBuilders

@@OffGrit We have built the trusses before and it’s very simply. Just cutting the pitch on both sides of the beam
Wouldn’t it have been easier to just put the trusses right on top of each other, then weld the metal plates?
