Great video! Please do more of these! I like the thought exercise! I would agree, that single watching Seiko is the absolute most value in so many price categories and the fact that you can still access spring drive with them (for now) is awesome! That said, if I were to pick a single watch brand to forever collect it might have to be Omega. Price range isn't as friendly for the entries, but you certainly have massive range and variety combined with pretty descent build quality.

Alpinist (brown dial and 'rock face') on leather/strapcode bracelets, Willard (SPB237) on nato/rubber, SPB143 on a Strapcode bracelet and the Snowflake. Mine and I love them for every occasion! The first one I bought was the King Samurai in white but I barely wear that anymore but it's still a lovely piece.

looking past all the loved classics, I absolutely love exploring the vast variety of vintage Seikos and their sister brands. The history itself is amazing from a variety 60's with colourful divers to 70's design minimalism, the unique movements of bell-matics, then moving up to building ever better luxury quartz movements blowing up to the 80s quartz and LCD exploration peaking at the wild design languages and tech of 90's-00's Kinetics. There is Avan't grade line-up of Galante and the luxury of Credor, hit-and-miss experiments of Alba (catface bull-head chronograph, Darth Vader led watch, the spoons and even grotesque g-shock competitors of the hyper-tech lineup), more sporty J.Springs explorations, there are plastic rave-flowery Appetimes and whatever is Seiko Wired. Compared to the rich wild past of really going out there and trying absolutely everything (even ring watches or gem-cut glasses of Vanac), the current Seiko seems timid, repeating and at most interesting at limited edition collaborations - except the new metronome watch which shows that they still aren't afraid to innovate with new releases from the main brand. So much of everything to be found under the past century of one watch-house. Absolute blast to dive into and collect, and usually at quite a reasonable price-point. But yeah, you got a point there with vintage repairs, water resistance can be so and so, spare parts can be impossible to find and repair of rare old movements is not easy nor cheap and there are plenty of frankenwatches and Mumbai-specials about. Seiko is a very special brand for vintage enthusiasts valuing innovation and bravado to experiment with out-there looks. Nowadays I see the same excitement happening mostly among high-horology and microbrands - creativity and passion instead of market-calculated profit-first releases.

I’ve got my first seiko and first automatic watch to add to my collection the Seiko watch I got is the Seiko SRPK33K it’s beautiful watch my collection mainly contains quartz watches, or solar watches. It’s great to have an automatic in the mix and I’ve definitely got the Seiko bug I’m getting some more Seiko watches throughout this year. My next seiko watch I’m getting is the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SSC813P Panda dial I absolutely love my watches. I love Seiko watches. I’m going to add plenty of them to my collection

Good video. If there is a brand with a bigger range of watches that covers every price and style better than Seiko I would like to hear of it. My own personal favourite bargain is the 1959 Alpinist reissue range.

Ive recently found out about the Seiko 5, and with my budget is less than 200 US Dollars, and there are so many nice vintage seikos for that price range. I am very interested in adding a vintage 60s or 70s automatic watch to my collection.

The real value can be found among their (neo) vintage JDM pieces. I recently picked up a Seiko U.T.D. (ref.CDF020) for only 550 USD. It is 4.4mm thick and uses a fully handmade manualwind movement. (Calibre 6810)

Hi I'm in Tasmania Australia, i would value you're opinion. In the last 5 weeks i have bought 3 seiko watches 7T32-6K50 7T32-6K60 and 7T32-6k19 All the bands are too small , The 6k50 and 6k19 work for awhile, then stop, i have to press the stop watch button, to get them working, The red 7T32-6K60 is not working, is in the post from Canada . Seiko Service in Melbourne, tells me, they only service watches, with new parts, and these watches, they don't make parts, anymore. Have i wasted $900 Australian , buying these watches. What should i do , or what can I do . Cheers Karl in Beauty Point, Tasmania, Australia .

I'm always thinking the same thing - I think only Seiko can cover absolutely all bases so well (dress, everyday/sport, chrono, GMT, field, diver). Fantastic watches - also worth checking out their higher-end SLA/LX refs that are extremely high quality and brilliant used buys. Just a real shame Seiko have ruined (for me) half their watches with that Prospex X. Another brand with such versatility? Longines. But Omega (meh GMT), Tudor (no dress) and Rolex (meh dress) get close.

Seiko dials are great. Seiko alignments, not so much. 😅 Accuracy is pretty hit or miss. Most of the time it is well within the stated tolerances, but then again the stated tolerance is such a wide margin to begin with. Value for money for ranges under 1,000 dollars is definitely there. The above 1,000 price point is kinda meh though, specially when they have many entry level swiss brands to compete with around 1,000 range. *These are just my opinion after almost 2 years in the seiko rabbit hole with 19 seiko prospex watches 😄

Seiko Quartz watch are off less than 15 seconds per year. That said, I understand that there are some who feel a need to spend 30x more for an inferior mechanical watch. For those people, there is always a Patek for $150K. It is still is inferior to a Seiko Quartz, but at least it will do the trick as far as burning up excess money you might want to get rid of. And a Patek is great to show off to friends that you paid $150K for a watch that is almost as accurate as a Seiko quartz.

I made the mistake of buying a Seiko 5 field watch without doing any research first. I now look at it as a poor choice. Mineral crystal, non hacking movement without hand wind capability. I could have purchased a watch in the same price range with sapphire crystal, hacking and hand wind capability. Buyers remorse. I could have purchased an Invicta at close to half the price with everything the Seiko lacks.
