Wishing for a VB WRX STI ? Best WRX performance mods. With the VA STI out of production I found myself inspired build my own VB WRX STI using the similar formula to Subaru Technical International. My goal was to build the best street track car. Lets install last performance bolt on parts for my VB WRX build Perrin front and rear strut tower bars.

    I can’t believe Subaru made a removable section of carpet right above the rear shock tower mounts. It’s like they’re accommodating the aftermarket. Also, love the F&F track!!

    Yes, that was very helpful. They probably designed this for their STI tower bars. Made things much easier and faster to finish the install.

    Honestly I think its butt ugly. Makes the wrx look like some sort of crossover. Needs round wheel arches aswell. Be interesting to see if they release another model later.

    I do amateur rally and appreciate both the form and function of the cladding. I don't buy or build cars to look pretty, but do like how the VB looks in all colors except orange.

    Glad to see you post more content on the VB. I just installed the STI Front Draw Stiffener. I saw you post the STI Rear Draw Stiffener. It would be cool to see you install both the draw stiffeners on your car. I have been throwing the JDM STI catalog at my VB, and I am definitely going to add on the Perrin Rear Strut Tower bar.

    Actually you just made a modded VB! The STI did come out in Japan. However, unlike in the past where the STI had a larger engine, the only difference is the badging, lip kit, and suspension. That’s it! I essentially did what you did. Only I went with Cusco all around: Strut Bar, sway bar, Stabilizer links, front Power brace, rear strut bar, rear sway bar, rear power brace, and torsion bars (It’s probably not it’s called I forget) pretty much everything for my 22 VB Cusco has to offer minus the battery tie down! lol I got COBB TMIC, Charge pipe, Access Port (tuner), stage 2 shift kit, ETS CAI & Axle back, Subaru Japan STI interior kit, exterior STI, and a pro-tune! 350hp to the wheels! 🤩🤩🤩 brembo brakes probably in a year while be coming

    I saw that post for the JDM STI last month. Noticed that the STI S4 still didn't have Brembo and that it has only a CVT transmission from what I could find. Pretty much similar the the USDM GT trim with STI badging on it and similar 19" wheels from the USA TR VB WRX. I would rater have a VA STI over that. Personally I like what you and I have done with our VB's and doing a few mods making our cars comparable to last gen STI. How do you like those Cusco sway bars? I have been considering those as well. You have to get those Brembo brakes later. Completely transforms this platform and make it so much more fun to push hard while driving and not have the fear of not being able to stop. Last thing thing I would like to do some day is an STI trans swap. Maybe in a few years once I finish paying off my car. Thanks for watching. Let me know your thoughts on the Cusco sway bars

    @@JDMRightHandDrive no our car can easily beat sti if we become better driver than sti, i have proof, search intial d ae85 vs silvia and you will see a race. in that is good driver takumi with ae86 with lsd just like sti and his friend itsuki buy ae85 which is like wrx without lsd. but guess what, you put the good driver takumi in the ae85 and he still beat a car, silvia, in a race. that show me it is more about driver and if i get good will easily beat sti, evo, gr corolla, gtr.

    I have no plans on selling my VB. It's the perfect sized daily for my family and fun to drive. Going to keep this as one of my car in my collection until I am to old to drive. Thanks for watching.

    I am right there with you. I think Subaru should offer different sport packages like other auto makers do. The should have an STI drivetrain package, a Brembo sport brakes package. Those would have been something I would have paid to upgrade directly from the factory. Most of us don't find the GT trim very appealing, but I do the the TR trim. The TR could be the one that Subaru could easily offer the STI drivetrain package with. Then we would have pretty close to a factory STI.

    I wish I would have had a a chance to do a track day when car was stock. The one thing I always though is the OEM brakes would be a little sketchy on track. That is probably the biggest reason I never did. I will have some track content coming later this year. Good suggestion, thanks for watching.

    I like your build, the STI brakes must be a game changer. I have copied a couple things from your's into mine. I like where you set your HP/TRQ. As it seems to be a safe TRQ number for the transmission for longevity. As I watched multiple VB channels I saw that it wasn't the engine to worry about rather the transmission once it got to 400+ TRQ. I waited a year after I bought 22 WRX sportech (limited) to do a protune until I knew where the reible mark was. I got mine E-tuned from Dmann and used a virtual dyno for a very ruff idea of where mine is at. VD read 343hp at 20PSI boost, which obviously i know is way off and higher then it is, Im guessing im making around 300-320hp. Plenty for my needs :) I don't track my car as its a daily. What brake pads would recommend for a daily non track car?

    It has also had 4 oil changes in those 20980 miles, and I am considering an early 5th since it is due at 23800.

    If you go up the hill on Lake Holm, you should be able to get your right rear to dog leg in the air at the hairpin. Might make for a cool external shot. 😎

    I drove up and down 4 times yesterday to capture the shots I got. I would have liked to place a camera somewhere on the road near those corners, but nowhere really to stop to place and I had no camera person help. I will have to test that hairpin next time I am in the area, thanks for the tip. Nice to know there are some locals familiar with these roads checking out my channel. Thanks for watching.

    The description for this video shows some my channel videos for the mods I have done to my VB WRX. Her is my mods list! Perrin Performance, FMIC, Intake, turbo inlet, oil cooler, strut bars, pitch stop. Noble titanium cat back Eibach ProKit springs and SuperPro rear lower control arms. Billetworkz short shifter kit with weight shift knob. Brembo VA STI 2018+ calipers with OEM rear rotors and Paragon Performance 2 piece front rotors, Rotora SS brake lines. Running Paragon P3 brake pads. BBS GR STI wheels with Michelin PS4S 265-35-18. Perrin 3mm front wheel spacer to clear calipers. I should probably make a VB build play list.

    i enjoy my vb i recently found out though it has open diffs front and rear, i thought it would be like sti with front lsd and the center dccd and the rear lsd but it not. but i will learn in my vb still because of proof from initial d. in that is good driver takumi with ae86 with lsd just like sti and his friend itsuki buy ae85 which is like wrx without lsd. but guess what, you put the good driver takumi in the ae85 and he still beat a car, silvia, in a race. that show me it is more about driver and if i get good will easily beat sti, evo, gr corolla, gtr.

    Your absolutely right, I will be sapping to an STI drivetrain when my OEM trans dies. With doing a $30,000 RB28 build on my GTR, no extra money for the STI trans right now.

    Damn. Great vid. Thanks man. I read that the front strut bar increases under steer. Is that something you noticed at all? And, does it really feel and handle a lot better, or would the draw stiffeners also be good/better? Only prob is, the trans and diffs. I have to watch all the vids.

    I didn't experience any increased under steer. To me it feels like the car turns in easier, faster and stays flatter through the corners, making the car to me feel more predictable. Yeah, I knew I should have addressed the STI trans and rear diff. That is the biggest thing my VB is missing is the STI drivetrain. This will be something I will swap later a few years down the road. I want to pay off my car 1st and do the STI swap when the OEM trans blows up. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

    Hey Josh - thank again for the great content! I installed both bars on my 23 - it feels great! I just ordered a Mishimoto top mount intercooler, but I am noticing that the WRX does not have the intercooler installed in all the install videos for the front bar. Is that because the upgraded intercooler is to large for the front bar to fit? Thanks! :)

    Hey Jordan, glad your enjoying my WRX content. Nice to know from another VB owner with the strut bars that you also can feel the improvement in handling dynamics. I am not sure about the Mishimoto TMIC with the strut bar for fitment, but I know that Perrin designed their bar to work with their TMIC. I would imagine that your Mishimoto TMIC would fit because the Perrin bar is not that thick and is all the way back against the firewall. My fingers are crossed for you that it fits. Have fun with your top mount install. 👍

    You honestly need to save for an STI transmission. I swapped mine and she feels entirely different with much much better gearing ratio. Im sporting the 2015 STI trans in my VB and a 2017 trans in my big boy VA

    Glad to know your feedback on what a huge difference the STI drivetrain makes. Future goals for me for sure. I will be doing the STI trans swap in the near future. Right now I am putting about $30k into my RB28 build for my Nissan Skyline. Once I have the GTR back together, STI trans will be next.

    Hey Subi Fam! My 2023 WRX Premium - Stock is making a metal rattling noise when it cold starts and goes away after warming up for the past 3 days. My normal boost is around 13.1 but it pushes 16.1 when driving aggressively. I originally thought it was a loose exhaust component but, I have not gotten under it to double check. I have an appointment with my local Subaru dealership tomorrow under warranty but, I wanted to check if anyone else is experiencing this. It has 20980 miles on the motor. I properly broke in the motor and did an oil change right after. I can post a video when it cools down to give reference.

    I just reached out to the local Subaru dealership yesterday and am in the process of trying to set up a 2024 TR review. My thoughts were the same as yours compare the 2 cars since my VB cost about the same to build as the MSRP of the TR WRX.
