Building a Unicorn Jon Boat! "TunnelCat" 1660 Full Build Video. A Loaded Skinny Water Catfish Rig!

At first a regretful buy as there were endless issues with just about everything. We took it all the way and made it into what we wanted for a shallow river that we fish often. a few years of amatuer labor smashed into one video.. total build budget was $8500.

I’ve got everything welded. Windshields on. My 90 hp johnson rebuilt. Only 5 hrs on the motor. Did all the work myself..I still have a bunch of work to do. But I wanted to get it in the water and break the motor in. 😂How can I send you some pics??

Awesome boat man! I’m in the process of rebuilding almost the same boat, except mines a 17 footer. Did you make the tunnel yourself? Just ran across this video in my recommended section. I’ve heard people say that flat bottoms with a tunnel create a suction and pull the rear of the boat down, wondering if that’s an issue you’ve ever had or not?

Definetely will slow you down. Itll run about 32 max and it doesn't weigh much. You lose speed for sure but it will run crazy shallow for a prop! The tunnel was on the hull when I got it. I think it was factory but I heard they were a terrible design from the factory and had issues. This boat had been welded on down there before I got it that's for sure!

just a quick tip the foam makes it haevier it does'nt make it float any more.

Actually not true. Foam is weightless. And will save you if you swamp your boat. It is not for everyday use. Only if there is a mishap. I have been there and its saves your boat from totally sinking. Making it retrievable at worst case.

It's marine plywood. No need for sealing.
