Thank you, this was a bit nerve wracking. I actually probably shouldn't have reamed those holes - shows what I know about silver solder joint design lol - see the next video (tomorrow!)

Glad you're enjoyed it - videoing everything is quite a chore but it's worth it for nice comments like this.

@@williamsworkshopuk I keep thinking would I be bold enough to video my own efforts. The work involved to do so seem onerous. I am soooo grateful to all those who do so. You are to be thanked and applauded 👏👏👍😀

I'm really comfortable with small-scale model soldering with a little dinky 15w iron - but the blow lamp is really something else!

hi ww coming along nicely and the workshop too. Bet you'll be glad to get the oxy acetylene kit. The drilling vice is limiting, would have been good to have a miller to do it on. Is that the future surprise for us all. You could have done it in the 4 jaw on the Myford. Keep up the good work see you next time regards mr f

Hi Mr. F - I was going to go with propane rather than oxy - either that or a set of paraffin lamps lol! I am fed up with the drill press, so let's leave it at that for now? :)

I watched this with the idea of how you put the end radius on the crank pieces. Did not see any method but maybe filed, not milled.😥🤔

I'm afraid I missed filming that - I scribed a centre line down the part and then using the radius of the ends I centre popped that distance away, and then used a pair of calipers to scribe the radius, filing by hand. Were I to do it again, I would be more generous with my filing as the clearance isn't huge inside the casting, With that in mind I do show how to use and make button guides to round crank ends over in one of my recent videos on putting spring plates for my 5" loco - maybe that would be helpful?
