Building A Stool That WON'T Break

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Every Workshop needs a high quality stool. So why not build one that is built to last! I used castle joints to hold the stool together and tested it out by dropping more than 100 lbs on top of it!

Will you be doing a table saw giveaway for your 2,000 subscriber celebration?

I should definitely do a giveaway but maybe wait until a bigger milestone.

There's no question that such a stool can hold much much more than 100 pounds. There's also no question that you did some damage by dropping that weight on to it. The legs looked like they were no longer square. Nice job. You did all that work and wrecked it.

No worries. I still use the stool to this day. Everything works great 👍

Why degrade a project with castle joints by attaching support beams with brad nails? You lost me when you did that.

The only reason I had to add them was to support the acrylic top which is extremely flexible. If I went with a regular wood seat they wouldn’t have been necessary. So the easiest way to fit them in was with a few brad nails.

I had no question about the beams themselves, just why did you use brad nails instead of some other type of joinery. The project is, after all, highlighting joinery.@@DrewLarsenDesigns

@tnabbott Ohhhh I see what you’re saying. I totally agree with you, If I was to go back and plan it out knowing that I was going to need the beams I would have added them with a cross lap joint. The only problem was that I wasn’t able to add the joints because they were already anchored into the legs. So I thought the brad nails would do for now 😂
