Here's our Hey Hay Hut - a DIY hay feeder for the cows. It would work fine for sheep and horses too, of course! After the failure of the first IBC, the second one was easy to build. The first one was just too old and crispy.
The only downside is that it doesn't fit a whole round bale. You can see us rolling out the round bale to about 3/4 size. The IBC frame then fits snuggly over the top. We just picked up the rest of the hay, stored it undercover, and re-filled the hay feeder once it was empty.
The other way this hay feeder would work well with is small square bales. You can fit four small bales of hay next to each other, upright. You could probably put another two on top to fill it to the roof.
