    I love the looks of these walls. I had so many terraces at my last place!! It took almost 2 months to put in all the retaining walls and then artificial stone patios and one odd shaped sandstone slabs patio with a fire pit in the middle that one was almost 2,000 square feet!! It looks awesome and we became friends with the people who bought it this spring and have been there with our camper a few times this year already to visit outside!! They take even better care of the place than we did!! So nice. I tried to do a wall in a similar size by my shop and even with a hugely messed up back was able to get an excellent base, but I just couldn’t set the stone. 4 years ago I would have carried and set 2 stones at a time. Instead I paid my cousin very well to finish the wall up. We had a great time and the wall looks like this!! I somehow suspect it’s not as perfect as the one Big Mike put in here, this guy is fast and good! The wall we installed does look great nonetheless! This is such a great product, I was planning a new terrace, but the boss said we have enough at this new place!! Fair enough. Thanks Mike for the brief tutorial! I bet these type of jobs are like a nice breather and then back to the bigger more hectic jobs again!! I am still amazed each new project you do by the knowledge you have!! My wife has started watching your shows and I am suspicious it’s not for the work you do as much to just watch you,,,,,,,,,, hmmmm. You stay away from her!!! Hahaha. She slugged me hard when I showed her what I put down!! We are enjoying our “Canada Day” July 1st!!! Please, you and yours stay safe and I hope it’s a great July 4th for ya all, Eh!!

    Nice Wall, I did a wall in my front yard that was around 75 ft long and the face style of your block looked like mine. The blocks I used were solid and had holes in them to slide in plastic Pins to lock it together. The blocks weighed a ton and lucky me a Truck crashed in it and I got to do it again. and then a car crashed into it only had to do a minor repair that time.

    This looks awesome, but I'm a bit surprised it doesn't need to be anchored in any way from behind. Would you have to anchor it if it was a higher wall? I'm not even sure how you would do that with block.

    I set 2 string lines. One in front of the block and one in the back. Took my time and set the first course as perfect as possible like you did. Second, third, and forth course of block was still off. Had about a half inch sag in the middle of my wall. I tore it all down and restarted.I had to string line every course and add a little sand underneath to level out some of the blocks. It's weird but I cannot just stack them and get a straight wall. What am I doing wrong?

  • @DIRT-BOSS

    @DIRT-BOSS

    Not sure...your base is dead level right? Also make sure that string is super tight.. I have other videos on retaining walls also take a peek

  • @rodrigoarellano9729

    @rodrigoarellano9729

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah I made grade with a string line and then set the first course with string lines. Pulled them as tight as possible. I start stacking the second course and after a few blocks, suddenly one will be a quarter inch higher than the last one. I even grinded out some of the rough spots on the blocks to make them as flat as possible. I guess I'll just keep string lining every course. It's just weird because most videos I've watched on KZread make it look so easy. They get the first course perfect and then just start stacking the rest. The walls always look tight and perfect. My wall always has blocks that teether totter here and there. Well, thanks for the response. I liked your video. Keep up the good work.
