    Hylians are smaller and lighter than IRL humans. Link is 5 feet , 2 inches in NuZelda. He can survive falls at terminal velocity into water. He would have to weigh less than 80 lbs. (The weight of a Golden Retriever.)

    Wetting the fabric with a spray bottle before painting with acrylics works great for not having it all absorb into the fabric like that. You can also thin it out with some water and do more than one coat to get it more even.

It's been too many years for me to know exactly how much, but in short yes! If this glider does... Eeehhh I think it will be too small

  • @dokuujin1851
    @dokuujin1851 Жыл бұрын

    the size is obviously an issue, but I think you also needed more slack on the fabric. It was pretty tight, so even if it was bigger it wouldn't really "balloon" up much to catch air. Ofc, real paragliders are firm as well, but they're MASSIVE compared to the rider. To get away with being smaller, you'd need a larger fabric to wood ratio, effectively making the sail bigger without making the whole build bigger.

  • @goldenlotus3046

    @goldenlotus3046

  • @dokuujin1851

    Жыл бұрын

    @@goldenlotus3046 i mean to be fair with a real glider if it's bit properly you can feel it "catch" even if you drop at ground level. It wont DO much, but you can feel enough to know the glider might actually work. And I really don't think this one was gonna work regardless XD

  • @Draken0023
    @Draken0023 Жыл бұрын

    My personal theory is that, much like in the divisive movie ‘John Carter’, the gravity in the LoZ world is much less than our own. Not to the point where Link can jump a hundred feet in the air, but enough to allow the air resistance to provide enough lift for the glider to work. Either that or thiccc air 😅

  • @polarknight5376

    @polarknight5376

    I'd say the atmosphere is denser and the gravity is higher. He falls at the same terminal velocity in a dive as a human on earth does. I believe a higher gravity and a denser atmosphere would allow for both this and the paraglider.

    @@technopong for use as a short-run parachute glider, however, somewhere in the middle would suffice. The control wouldn't be easy, but with practice it could keep you from breaking a leg. I think bamboo would be a wise change for a lot of the frame.

  • @purplecowadoom

    @purplecowadoom

    Жыл бұрын

    @@technopong I had to do some research into hang gliders some time last year, and wingspan does appear to be one of the biggest things to deal with to start. You get a better glide ratio (distance forward/distance down, literally a number for your downward slope) with a lower aspect ratio (related to wingspan relative to chord lengths I believe. A wing that looks closer to an equilateral triangle will glide better but be less maneuverable. A wing that looks like two long right triangles stuck together will be more maneuverable but more likely to get a beginner killed), which is in turn related to your wing load (which is your wing size relative to the weight of whatever you're carrying underneath it). Assuming I'm recalling all of the above info correctly (there's a good chance at least some of ^that^ isn't quite right), you then have a bunch of aerodynamics calculations to get through so that you can figure out the specific shape to make your aerofoil cross-sections based on drag from wind acting on different parts of the wing.

  • @nameforcomments4092

    You have to hold 2 wings, 1 wood, and 1 ‘aero kit’, throw them in a pot, and wait till the music stops. Add monster parts to customize. The ‘aero kit’ may be fictitious in both the game and real life, and what constitutes ‘monster parts’ in real life is open to horrific interpretation.
