Building a Portable Pet Porch or Potty with Pallets, Grass and a Miniatures Dachshund Puppy
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
We live on a block which has no grass. All we have around the house are tiles and Honey, our miniature dachshund puppy just loves grass when we go walking. So, we wanted to put something together on a budget that would allow Honey to enjoy grass but also give her a nice place to go to the toilet or laze around on without sitting on hot tiles How she goes with this grass will also help us to determine whether we want to change our backyard and put in some grass permanently.
We added wheels to the grass patio so we could move it around into the sun to help its growth or move it out when required for Honey's comfort. In addition, it allows us to move the grass patio into our indoor/outdoor section which we can close off at night - perfect for an indoor/outdoor toilet. Its versatility also makes it ideal for apartments.
For those of you who know our little Honey, she is sure to delight you with her antics as she undertakes her inspections at the end and tells her papa (daddy) what she thinks.

Great video! Just what I was looking for! Thanks! 😊
Since honey is the queen she gets to take the first approval. Bless her.
What a great idea. Of course Ms Honey had to help with getting the turf down, dad couldn't do it by himself. I think the finished product met with her approval.👍

Yes, I have it in the sun at the moment and pop her on there with a carrot. Just to get her used to it.
We have an artificial grass backyard - This would be perfect for those time when my doggos just need their real grass back! Clever!

Great idea. Artificial turf can get hot like our tiles. It only took Matt about an hour or so to put it together and she loves it.
This is such a great idea. It looks like you have her approval as well. ❤️🐶
Great tutorial and final product and I love that Honey is so eager to help!
Thank you for this! I have a little senior I just adopted and an apartment with a patio, this is perfect.
What a great idea! Very creative & Honey definitely loves it. 💖🐾🐾💖

You are such a wonderful Dad to Honey.
She’s such a good helper!
Excellente idée 👍👍Merci beaucoup 😉👏👏🐶😍
Thank you very much! I really like the wheel idea.
Wonderful idea! You'll have to do an update and let us know if she gets accustomed to using it. I can't get over how dang cute she is...takes me back to the days that mine was a pup 🐶 💕

She was on it today. We wheeled it by the pool and she jumped on, had a lay down and munched on a carrot. 🎉🎈
Very nice🙂. Honey is a lucky little lady 🐶🐾✨💕

Hi !!💖😍 thank you this helpful DIY !!🎉 We are soon moving into an apartment and I thought of making one of these..my partner is conserned with the smell thia may have ?? Does it gwt stinky and need changing grass/soil? And if so about how often ??/Thanks so much 💚🎀💜
Any update on this? Have you changed soil yet? It obviously needs sunlight to thrive/not die or not??Thinking of making one too for our pup for toilet hence interested to know how yours went
How did this hold up long term? I’m considering building one but want to know if it’ll last a year or two.
Does the dog pee ruin the grass at all?
How has this held up? Has the grass died? How is the drainage? Does it smell bad lol
Amazing idea! But where does the water flow go to? Wouldnt the dog pee be sitting in the soil?

Dissipates with the rain and watering.
This might be a dumb question, but do you ever need to change the soil? This is BRILLIANT!

I would say that just feeding the lawn would be sufficient.

@@LittleHoneysAdventures thank you - this is very helpful. We have a mini dachshund, too, and she is a stubborn little girl during potty training!

@@Shane121997 Well....Honey has decided to use the grass for sunbaking and eating treats. She still comes inside to do her wee! Thankfully it is on a training pad so there are few spills. Apparently doxies are very difficult to train...we'll all get there in the end. A very intelligent breed that can afford to be stubborn due to extreme cuteness!
How do you mow it?
how has this held up overtime?

It's still good. Just mentioned to Matt yesterday that it needs a mow! There is an updated picture on our Community page.
Hello! Any updates? Is it still holding up? How long did the grass last? Thank u!

Sure is. It needs to be weeded. 😂 I'll post a pic on the community page for you (you may need to subscribe to be able to see it)
How does the drainage work as mine would be on a balcony

It drains through the bottom, but you could probably line it with plastic and have it lean towards one corner so it drains out there. A half pipe could then catch it and take it where you want.
where did you guys get the sod rolls? ive been looking around and im not able to find anyone that sells sod by the roll, the only places i found have a minimum of like 25 rolls or something.

We're in Australia and get them from gardening centres and hardware stores like Bunnings or Mitre 10. Usually they become available in Spring.
clickbait!!!!!!! i thought honey was going to construct it....
