I think the problem of your ship thingy was that it didn’t add any weights under the ship, which are preventing it from doing those barrel rolls. Also if you build on each side a cannon (heavy), it wouldn’t affect the ship that much, because the weight is evenly distributed on the ship. Similar to a real big medieval ship the cannons are shooting from booth sides.

Intern, you should put some weight at the bottom of your ship and barrels along the top of your boat. This way, the bottom wants to stay down and the top wants to float, avoiding to topple over

His boat is too heavy he needed to add more weight at bottom
