Hey everyone, it's Jordan Smith from Smith House Co.
( smithhouseco.com ), and I'm excited to take you behind the scenes of our latest project: a massive glass window wall. In this video, I'll walk you through the challenges we faced and the solutions we came up with to make this architectural marvel a reality. From ensuring structural stability to dealing with thermal bridging and insulation, we had our hands full, but we made it happen. If you're interested in the nitty-gritty details of engineering and construction or if you're planning a similar project yourself, you won't want to miss this. Drop your questions and comments below, and don't forget to check out our website for more info and consulting services. Follow me on Instagram and TikTok for more behind-the-scenes content. Thanks for tuning in, and I'll see you next time on Smith House!

Truth in materials is a pretty good phrase. I’d love to hear about why you chose to use foam for a capillary break? What other products did you look at?

100÷ would help me. I am in preparation to build a skillion house and was using a similar design. The roof is the star of the show to me (windows will be slightly less extreme).

Hi Jordan. Great video & loved the roof video too. Fantastic! I'd love to see a video on the finishing & insulating around the metal beams, above the windows to get a well sealed and aesthetically pleasing final finish that is energy efficient and effective.

Nice job. The 6 foot spacing of the rafters was worth it.

Hello @Jordan Smith, I wrote a reply yesterday and it was deleted!!! So I will make another attempt... I realize the the roof consist of 2" x 6" tong & grove decking boards maybe #1 or select, roof rafters are spaced 6' OC, may I ask the width and height of the roof rafters??? We are moving to Maine and I am designing our Passive Double (Skillion or Clerestory) Shed Roof house plans with exposed wood ceilings beams (roof rafters and 2" X 6" T&G too) with an attached green house... I am new to using Chief Architect Premier software... Jordan Smith Would you do a follow-up video on the "Roof Video" please, Liked N Subscribed!!! I would enjoy a conversation with you also... I have so much to learn and love home construction!!! Thank you!!!

Excellent work & beautiful. My only concern is house is in Texas so potential for a tornado. An EF5 will lift against the roof even with beams. I would want to ask a structural engineering about the wind uplift ??

Really nice structure. Question. How is the last foot or so of the t&g decking being supported since it does not span over the top of the rafters?

you mentioned the 100k difference for 20 foot glass panels,, but wondering, really just wondering for my own perspective, if you factored in what the real difference would have been considering the extra carpentry etc. for the additional framing? thanks

This looks like trash. The walls are very narrow and not panoramic.
