    First of all, thank you for yopur videos, they are amazing and have been an important help through learning lure making. My epoxi recomends beeing handled after 12h. How long +- should i leave my lures on my lure turner? my lure turner is diy with a grill motor, but the thing does overheat, i suspect it will burn soon... its not expensive, on the bright side. However i want to leave it on only the necessary time to improove its life span. thank you. great channel

    The epoxy I use only allows handling for about 2 hours, and normally I can apply more coats after 12-18 hours. After last layer I let them have at least 24 hours to harden fully. !2 hours sounds like long handling time, and I can't say how long you will have to turn them, but test it out. First time, check out the epoxy with a brush (normally you can clean the brush with alcohol) When i starts to get really sticky you should stop. Then just wait whith next layer until its not tacky anymore. A cheap motor for a turner is a "discoball/mirrorball" motor, if your turner is not too big. good luck

    Hello, which clips are you using for the holders that fit the tubing? And what tubing are you using? It’s not PVC is it? I bought 1/2 inch PVC and 1/2 inch clips and the PVC doesn’t fit into the clips. I’m guessing it’s because the inside diameter of the pvc is 1/2 inch not the outside. Are you using some type of electrical conduit for the holders? Please let me know and I’ll order the parts today. Thanks!

    Thank you for this video, it was very inspiring. I think my motor rotates the lures too fast. I can see some sektions where the epoxy isn't fully and nicley coated on the surface it looks more like dops here and there. Is the motor too fast in order to distribute the epoxy nicley or is it just too much epoxy? any advice?

    Sounds like what is called "fish eyes", and has nothing to do with the rotation. Try checking my basic luremaking vid about epoxy coating

    Nice build! Runs really smooth with the bearings. Would a motor running at 5 rpm influence the finish though? For me its easier to get that here than lower rpm motors

  • @SplishSplashFishing

    @SplishSplashFishing

    5 жыл бұрын

    I havn't tried above 3 rpm, which worked fine. 5 might be a bit high as you want the gravity to pull the epoxy around the lure, not the centrifugal force to sling it to the outside. That said, I would imagine the at 5 rpm the centrifugal force would still be the primary. But if you have such a motor, just try it with a dummy lure.

    Hi Jørgen, i hope you are doing well, i have the exact same motor but it is running at 5-6 PRM, do you think 6 turns per minute is to fast for epoxy clear coating? Also, instead of using lure holder slots i am planing to use neodymium magnets (fixing them on the aluminium shaft)... do you think this will work? Last question is, i am keen to find out if you still use this lure dryer and how it performs so far? Thanks in advance for taking time 👍 cheers

  • @SplishSplashFishing

    @SplishSplashFishing

    Hi Günay. I think that 5-6 RPM could be a little too fast. 1-3 would be the optimal range. Turning too fast would "sling" the epoxy to the part of the lure furthest away from the axis. You will have to check if 5-6 RPM is "too fast" I have seen many using magnets, and it seems to work fine Good luck with it all
