Building a lot of Libreboot Thinkpads (X200 & X230) :D
Ғылым және технология
I rebuild a X200 from spare parts, repair a keyboard, and install libreboot on the system. I also install the testing libreboot release on two X230 Thinkpads, and remedy a s3 suspend bug.

This is awesome. I'm always on the lookout for X200's in good enough shape since they're my favorite out of all libreboot-compatible Thinkpads.

Cheers for sharing all this Leah, I'm sure I will be reviewing these videos and advice on my pending / queue of LB builds. Always enjoy a video upload.
great, nice to hear from you!👍

I'd download the stable version, unless the testing issue was resolved. Good luck with the project :D

@@joetoney184 I'd wait a bit, the testing release seems to be a bit more cleaned up, but at the moment it is probably a bit buggy.
Glad to see you making videos and posting to mastodon again!

Welcome back man, unfortunately my T430 motherboard died a couple of weeks ago so I replaced it with a T460 but its memory lives on as I used some spare parts (mainly the WIFI card and antennas) to enable WIFI on my pizza box computer

Is the pizza box computer in a cardboard pizza box, or just an older style flat desktop :D

Just fyi. Not "man", unless you mean it informally.
I have a Librebooted X200s running Linux. Its a great computer and just keeps on going. The X200s I use for my personal use, I use and X220 for work. I have owned both since new and with some careful (minor) upkeep both still do everything I ask of them. I don't let them go because they are cheap to keep going, dependable, fully serviceable, tough and so far I have no issues. I will keep them going and I cant see them giving up anytime soon.

Sounds like a nice setup, I used a X200s in the past and its a great machine. I miss the battery life. The X220 is also a nice system, I've had one setup with wwan before which was pretty cool :D Both machines are definitely usable today and will be for quite a while, so I'd hang on to them.

@@tripcodeQ7 They are both excellent machines, I am typing this on my X220 offshore Saudi where its still doing great service. I have tried more modern machines but keep going back to the X220 and X200s simply for the ergonomics and the outstanding durability, more modern machines just cant seem to hack the hard usage, knocks bumps environment etc. The keyboards cannot be matched and the quality of build is just outstanding. They just keep going and I cannot see any reason to replace. In a way they remind of my old Land Rover almost infinitely repairable. I have a couple of old units sat at home that I paid almost nothing for simply for spares. On a final note I love your channel and have been a subscriber for a while now, thanks and keep up the work, really enjoy it !

What's the easiest thinkpad to do librebooot on?

The slim models wson 8 chip is a bit hard to flash. There might be a way to do it without soldering or replacing the chip. Maybe probe pins.

@@tripcodeQ7 if a new chip can be ordered in places like AliExpress or something like this and be easily soldered then it's not such a problem. For the viewers it would be useful to see all possible solutions with and without replacing the chip.
