Building A High-Performance Ford Windsor To Drop In A 900+ HP Turbo Stang - Horsepower S12, E18

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The HorsePower guys take an old former project car, a '92 Mustang, and start transforming it into a serious street/strip monster. Starting with a Ford Windsor block, they build a motor with extra high-performance race parts. All this in preparation for a turbocharger that'll help it make 900+ horsepower. #turbo #horsepower

    Great to se another SB Ford build. Got to the end and reminded me of asphalt racing and how the rule makers are once again screwing the SB Fords. Every time Ford comes up with a winning combination the rules change. Wonder why you don't see many Fords on a asphalt track. Sanctioning bodies favor GM is the reason.Sad to see rule makers control who wins races. 2020 Asphalt Late Model Rules. The GM 604 crate motors are allowed a 6500 RPM RPM Chip. The Ford 347 is allowed a 6300 RPM Chip. The GM is allowed to increase rocker arm ratio from stock 1.5 to a 1.6 increasing life close to .030. The Ford must remove there stock ratio from 1.6 to a 1.5 decreasing lift about .030. The GM can install a 1 inch carb spacer the Ford cant use a spacer. NOW YOU KNOW.

    Cleveland 351 is a different engine family with the same displacement. It has larger valves and better cooling but isn't fundamentally a better engine, just a different one. Higher RPM and more HP from the factory.

  • @NitroUnion

    @NitroUnion

    3 жыл бұрын

    Back in the day the Cleveland’s were killer because they had some of the best flowing factory heads out there, flowing too much in many cases for the small displacement, but as time went on the Windsor aftermarket began to grow and it’s much easier and cheaper these days to make big power with a Windsor than a Cleveland. And factory Windsor engines and parts are so abundant because Ford made them so long. Cleveland’s are hard to find now

    Yup Aftermarket. Pretty much what Nitro Union said. Better heads but less availability. Always heard the Windsor had a slightly stronger block too but not sure. The Cleveland Cylinder heads are really some fantastic heads. KZread Channel Drag Boss has a 69' Mercury Cougar that runs 9s with a 408 Cleveland NA. Highly recommend checking it out to learn about Clevelands & fast Cats. I think the Cleveland is a bit better stock but the Windsor is widely available & inexpensive comparatively.

    Why does a $5000 crate motor outrun a $20,000 built motor??? Because after they buy the $5000 crate motor, they put another $30,000 in it to make it look legal!! Dadgum boy, everybody knows that!!!🤣

    FYI these guys never tell the whole story. that custom crank $2k-$3.7k retail. rockers $1.8k retail. add everything up. 10-15 IN PARTS!. all bolt on? yeah right. when crower and pace send you everything, sure bolt it on. when the $ comes out of your pocket you never just bolt it on. If something fails the manufacturer will say "send it in and we will evaluate it". who's out the time and parts for redo even if their part is bad? YOU. I can never tell if they're being safe, are you guys gonna consistently run an electric water pump or be unsafe? and why don't you run EGT's and an air turbine/fuel flow meter? how did you determine pushrod length? POV clearance? CR? crank stroke? actual valve lift? dur. @ .050 ? so many clearance checks left out. cam thrust? valve adjustment on a big roller shouldnt be done at TDC. no lets spend 8 minutes on u-joints and some guys race program.

    It makes no difference marking a driveshaft yoke or not, it's all pluses no matter how you assemble it. I mean you literally can't get it wrong even if you try! Just sayin.

    Why make a point of talking about the fuel pump eccentric when you're using fuel injectors?

    Chris Daigle : Because thats how the timing advance and retard for the cam is set up. Some pumps on NASCAR EFi systems are still engine operated, there are piston pumps around that use the eccentric.

    Here is what kills me about shows like this. It is out of the field of the average Joe. How many people can actually afford to rebuild a motor like this, not many. I have a Windsor I want to rebuild to bad but could never afford to do half if a quarter of what you do. Why not do a show with affordable, reliable parts that the average Joe can afford and show how that works.

    Come on guys you have to change out those U-joints on an old stump with a socket and hammer, preferably when it is either 100 degrees in the shade or raining cats and dogs. None of that nice and neat in the shop stuff, that takes the fun out of the job not to mention it removes several words from your vocabulary that you will create while doing it the right way.

    The sad part about this video is that you can build a 900hp pump gas Windsor that will out run what they built here. Think about that, NA, Pump gas, and blow this motors doors in. For less money to boot. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z4aumdKala65f7A.html
