I'm not sure if you know this, but you're sitting on a gold mine with that tractor. It has a peerless 820 transmission. These transmissions can go for as much as $700 new! And they are extremely heavy duty

@@kylejacques2587 for easy identification on an 820, you should have one inch diameter output axles. All others are usually 3/4 inch. Another way to tell is by inspecting the identification tag on the front or rear of the case

I think both mowers need custom gas pedals as well. And if you ever want to unseize an engine spray PB blaster in the spark plug holes and then turn the flywheel nut with a breaker bar. This method has worked great for me. I think I remember the Troy bilt was a 17 hp too. Great video!!

Does Major Murray have a Peerless 820, I know that was common in those machines?? Something a lot of people get confused about, the seat safety does not play a role in starting the machine, it's the clutch safety, the seat safety is only for the mower deck.

@acrobatic_beef
2 жыл бұрын
I've tried an 8 inch and a 6 inch on a vari- drive before. The 6 inch did amazing and topped out at 13 mph, but the 8 inch was too much for the variable pulley and it would destroy belts in the first run in high gear. If you want to pulley swap it, go for a 6 inch.

@@dakotahicks6725 if you still wanted to use the vari-drive, the best pulley swap would be too change the rear pulley since it wouldn't over speed the variable pulley. You would have to cut the center hub out and weeks it to a smaller pulley to do this because the FNR transaxles have a splined input shaft. It you could take the route I did and find an old Craftsman frame and transmission and swap the body and transmission from your current mower onto the new frame. Then, pulley swapping is much easier.
