Worm castings! Watch the assembly of a continuous flow-through CFT vermicomposter. This size unit is suited for small commercial operations. It's a modular design with 8' x 4' sections that can be assembled to any length. In this installation, the motor and harvester are added later. Gavin Newton of WormCycle assisted with assembly. Actual assembly time was just under 4 hours. Time lapse video was done on Sony ILCE-6300.

    Looks like a fairly straightforward assembly/installation. Would be great if you could do a video tour after the winch is installed. Is this a kit?

    Hi Dan. Your new CFT vermicomposter looks great! I watched your earlier videos and found them helpful while building my CFT setup. On the new design did you cut a hole in the 2x4 bottom grid so that the winch sits flush ? Are you planning to pull a blade across the bottom in one or both directions? Thanks very much.

    Hi Kenan, I used polypropylene. You could also consider using PVC.

    Dan, that's some good work! Would you mind answering a question for me? What type of plastic did you use on the sides and where can it be bought? I'm thinking of building a much much much smaller scale one of these for my kitchen scraps. Thank you for your help!

    Dan Lonowski Thanks for the quick response! I was thinking about polypropylene also, however I didn't want it to get too heavy. What thickness would you recommend? Maybe 1/4"?

    Does the fallen Compost from wire contain cocoons ??

  • @tools.for.vermiculture

    @tools.for.vermiculture

    3 жыл бұрын

    Typically there are a few worms and cocoons, but most will remain in the compost above. The idea of continuous flow is to use compost worms, a species that prefers to live its life near the top surface, and not to burrow down deep in the soil. So if there are some worms and cocoons in the harvested material, it is because the cocoons did not hatch yet and over some weeks flowed downward with the compost layers and ended up at the bottom. @@ghadeerbar3498 There should be no excess water. Keep the compost around 80% moisture level to keep the worms happy, and there will be pores for air to keep good aerobic conditions for the microbes.
