Building a Eurofighter Typhoon Airfix 1/72 Scale Model

Building an #airfix #eurofightertyphoon in 1/72 scale
#scalemodel #plasticmodel #modelplane
This is an out of the box build of the Eurofighter Typhoon from Airfix in 1/72 scale. This was quite a frustrating build as a lot of the parts required a lot of sanding and dry fitting which for a starter set shouldn't be the case. Never the less, it certainly helped me improve my modelling abilities and it was great fun to see it come alive.

You showed by the end presentation that with basic skills a good model can be achieved. Filling & sanding, that’s why I don’t do too many planes nowadays but I enjoyed watching this.

Yes, I wouldn’t recommend this kit for someone who regularly builds. It is a starter set I suppose. But it was meant to be a quick build before Christmas which turned into a chore!

You get a shocking start to the hobby with a Airfix starter kit.!..Bad really as they seem to push the jalopies on the unsuspecting beginners.. Well done for ploughing through to a great build..Your no beginner..Imagine trying modeling for the first time and getting that kit..😵‍💫Again great video and look forward to your next build.👍

Nice work, I think that came out really well. I've had issues in the past with decals but since moving to using AK Gauzy Agent, one mist coat and then a heavy coat, I've hopefully got rid of that demon!

Your assembly is very excellent I might say. I remember that I saw from some other modelers that they are putting Airfix's sprues in vinegar, so I was wondering for how long it has to stay in the water with vinegar, and also this mentioned technic (with water and vinegar I mean), can be also used for model kits from Revell, Tamiya, Academy, etc.? Also I would to ask for how long did you wait to remove the excess paints when doing panel lines? What markings are on the plane? And what kind of polish thing (let's call it that way) did you use to make canopies to be so shiny? I ask, cause of curiosity as well.

Thank you for your comment. I wouldn’t worry too much about the vinegar, I just let the sprues soak in the warm soapy water with a splash of vinegar for about 5 mins, then I rinse them with cold water and allow them to dry on a towel. When it comes to the panel line wash you can leave it as long as you want as you can remove it with thinner. I demonstrate it in my panzer build (it’s in a chapter so easy to find)… I hope this helps. The markings are an RAF squadron that comes with the model and with regards to the canopy, I don’t think I did anything, there are special techniques though worth searching KZread for. Hope all this helps you!

@@45degreesmodelling Yes thank you very much. I'll give a look at that panzer build as well. And since I have mentioned tank, if you are interested, you can see on my channel the unboxing of one Yugoslav tank as well. P.S. Your channel is great. I just love it.

Not a criticism but the canards angle seems off were they put in upside down?

They are upside down. The canards should flair downward. These appear to flair up above the horizontal.

@@docgreen27 Yup. Glad someone else said it first. Rule 1 of modelling is get to know what the real aircraft looks like and build the model to be like that. Such a shame because he went to such efforts with spray painting and weathering.

The level of the model does not reach the level of the modeler)) A very poor model

I agree, it isn’t well detailed. It is a beginner kit after all, but still…
