Why not add some themostatic valves to regulate the water temp on the tub? Great project

How is the water continuously circulating to warm the tub? I though a pump would be necessary.

Thats as much a hot tub as my indoor bathtub is. Needs air jets/bubbles to make it more hottub like. Thats just an outdoor pond water bathtub.

The fire heating up the water inside the copper coil creates a flow. Hot water will rise to the surface just like hot air. In this case, cooler water coil enters the lower pipe and comes out the top as hot water. It’s just science.

I was wondering the same thing. I think a small pump would help. Even better if you don't need a pump. I was thinking she should have had a metal surround like an old dryer drum around the fire and copper pipe to keep heat in. It was cool. I've wanted one up hidden in the mountains where I could hook up to the stream for water and get the fire running for heat.

@@neoterra7072 so science would tell you a couple of things here. Yes natural convection will have some water movement; however, the flow is slow and it’s very possible the heat transfer will be reduced a lot due to nucleate boiling happening. If there was a pump the water would get hotter and the overall system would be more efficient. It’s still a cool project.
