Building a custom guitar - The Skervesen documentary
The wait is finally over. A lot of you have been wanting to see how Skervesen guitars are build. What the factory looks like. Where it is. If the Skervesen boys really are as cute as everybody says.
Now you can witness yourself how much work, effort and dedication it takes to build a high quality custom guitar.
About one year ago the Noisebird Media team drove to Danzig in Poland for a week of filming and this documentary is the result.

Great job guys! I’m so happy to be part of the Skervesen family! I’ve played so many guitars during my 25 years of playing but nothing comes close to the two guitars you built for me. I couldn’t make the 5th anniversary gathering but I’ll be at the 10th anniversary one!

I purchased a multiscale 6-string swan in 2014, and to date, my Skervesen is the finest instrument I've ever played, or owned. I own 20+ guitars, including 5 Kiesels, and multiple high-end Ibanez, ESP, Jackson, Grestch, and several others. While they are all excellent instruments, none of them have the same impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail as my Skervesen. Additionally, I just moved to Belgium 2 weeks ago, and visited Omega music in Mons. I played several Mayones, Ormsby, and Suhr guitars. Once again, great guitars, but still not as good as my Skervesen. I already have plans to drive to Gdansk and provide Skervesen with some VERY rare wood I obtained in the US (that Skervesen would not have been able to acquire), and I'm incredibly excited to entrust them with my next build: a 6-string multiscale 4AP Soul, with midi/synth capability, made from Camatillo rosewood. This will be my "once in a lifetime" guitar that trumps anything and everything else... and I know Skervesen can build it better than anyone. I'm looking forward to meeting the gentlemen that build these works of art, shaking hands with them, and seeing the facility in person. There is NOTHING better on this planet. Skervesen exists to accomodate the most discerning guitarist, that has played/owned everything, and wants the best that money can buy. Good job guys. -Matt Loomis

I have never even heard of Skerveson before today....badass is an understatement. GNG also seems to be this level of detail and precision. Give it up for the little EU guys in a dusty shop, blurring the lines between old world craftsmanship and state of the art. I NEED one.

@@bearonguitar they run anywhere from $3000-$5000 depending on options, which is about the same price as a high-end "big name" guitar. The quality/craftsmanship is FAR superior to anything else. My Kiesels come close.... but my Ibanez prestiges feel like cheap Chinese junk by companrison. The wait is tough.... 9-12 months, but they are good about sending pictures periodically, which is nice. Be careful of buying used. They are a small shop, but notorious for exceptional quality. Much like Blackmachine, the Chinese are already making fakes. Be SURE what you buy (if used) is authentic. Good luck.

Hello 👋🏻 from British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦 to all at Skervesen guitars. I fell in love with your guitars instantly ( even though I have yet to play one ! 😄 you can easily see the attention to detail and I have no doubt they sound and play as good as they look so I’m not even worried about that in the slightest bit 😊) The first place / time I saw a Skervesen guitar was on a Distant Dream band video the main guys name is Marcin. He is such a great guitarist and a friendly guy as well. I’ve talked to him in the comments and he told me what the brand was, as I didn’t know. He says they look absolutely beautiful and play even better. In the Distant Dream videos he has a few really incredible guitars that your company has made for him. The next time I saw one was on Ola Englund’s channel and gave a full review and demo of a Swan 6 model that he owns, he really liked it a lot. You know someone’s truly a good person when they own a guitar company themselves and are giving your guitars a review. He has a massive following that listen intently to what he has to say about gear, guitars and tone as his opinion is well respected in the metal guitarists community because he is always honest about what he thinks. Between Distant Dream / Marcin and Ola Englund I know for sure I will definitely be buying a Skervesen electric guitar in the future ( probably a 7 string ) they are obviously extremely high quality with a deep attention to detail in fit / finish and playability and very beautiful as well. A beautiful and fully functional piece of art really ! Extremely nice looking! 😊 Without question the most incredible guitars I’ve ever seen. I simply must own at least one of them in the future no matter what happens. I already own 13 guitars but these are definitely something very special to be treasured and played a lot by the person who owns them. This will be a reward to myself for working hard and playing guitar for 40 years. ( I’m at 38 years playing right now !) It’s a little ways off still but I can’t wait. Really looking forward to having that 1st beautiful Skervesen guitar in my hands 🙌 🎸🙂 🤘🏻

@@JordanMottram I would say, time will cost just as much as your effort and devotion. It's hard to make long story short for me, so I will just note each step I go through when make guitars. Then things that consumes time will follow. Hope my answer could give you some insights. First you need plan. Not about calender or time table plan, but the design of the guitar. This better be fixed at this stage by every 0.x mm. Any changes on plan made in later stage of bulding will cause some sort of trouble. Mostly you have to bear the troubles and don't try tosolve it, because you can't. Then get some well dried wood by yourself.(check the moisture content and overall quality) Now you cut, route and drill the wood as the plan. Either by hand(hand tools, power tools) or CNC. Get your hardwares such as trussrod, headmachines, bridge unit, pots and knobs and pickguards or whatever, Then test fit those on. Check everything works fine, and all are as intended. Go finish it. (final sanding, finish materials, buffing) Let the finish settle, put on all the hardware, string up + set up the guitar. play it. If you stick only to the necessary process and use powertools as much as possible, actual working time is not that long. 8 hours work for 2~3days are more than enough. Experience can make you even faster also. But when you start to do things as perfectionist, it is like endless. You can fix your plans to make your guitar maintain it's optimal condition even longer, without breaking. You can make your plan to a degree that you can run CNC right away, so you can send your wood to CNC shop and let them run the program, but you should already know about guitar designing and machining like a pro to avoid errors. you can spend more time to get better quality wood, or rarer wood timber. Or you can dry the wood by yourself until it gets under 1% of moisture content. Matching hardwares are the easiest, just don't fail with your plan. You can add sandings between each steps above to make things even more smooth if you want. Also sand between each finish layers for extra care. You can achieve thinner, controlled finish layer or better look, better touch. If you spray something like laquer, you'd better leave the guitar for a day between each coat. So spraying alone could cost up to 1 month +3months drying. You can also settle your completed guitar as long as you want. (no more change in sound or structure, )

I just bought 2 Velociraptor series guitars a 6 String White/Blue, and a 7 string Purple/White, from "The Music Loft of Wilmington NC USA", I am really looking forward to getting them in the next few days, they both look amazing and after watching videos like this one, I am totally stoked, I've never had a guitar of the caliber yours are in my 55 years of life till now, I usually buy sub $1000 guitars and mod them in various ways and set them up meticulously to my playing style and feel, I doubt I will need to do that with the ones coming, Thank You for making these pieces of ART! :)

@@SkervesenGuitars2011 I got both guitars in Gator cases and they were Pristine! Both Look and Play the way I Like right out of the box without any adjustments(I usually have to adjust most guitars saddle heights and intonation) other than pickup height, these were already in a very good setup. The 2 tone color is sweet too White/Blue(Dark Teal) Velociraptor 6 and Purple/White Velociraptor 7, I like the pickup sounds in all positions, and the WDM makes it even better, I believe the Acoustic mode makes the pickups run in Parallel, which I really like a lot on super clean with chorus and delay. These guitars are my first foray into customs and part of my heritage, I will pass them down as Heirloom Pieces of Art :) Thank you for creating these amazing guitars! Take Care and Keep Well to You All!
