The only way to learn young man is to hands on. Use your own ideas, I am 56 and worked on cars my whole life. Every mistake I made, I learned from. That car will not be to heavy, leave those tubes alone you'll be thankful you did.

Also, when you are welding together tubing or making a mitered bend, instead of cutting one at 0 degrees and the other at 30 degrees (for example), cut them both at 15 degrees so they fit together better. Overall, you are doing a good job. Having a heavier frame will lower the center of mass which is good.

Was just about to say the same thing. Also, I'd be adding gussets or side plates - that weld looks strong, but I'd be double pass TIGing to actually make it strong. Penetration is important in so many circumstances. Also, I'd be welding on a flat surface with everything clamped in place correctly.

Many don't allow for mitre cuts though. We have one up here called a terminator or something that uses a metal cutting steel blade instead of an abrasive blade and it purrs through steel. It looks just like one used for wood, but spins slower and has more power so you can do any angle you want. Correction: it's called the evolution.

Your blade guides are adjustable on your band saw. Loosen the hand screw on it and slide the guide as close to the material you are cutting as you can. That will keep the blade going straight. The bearings are adjustable too, make sure they are just touching the blade without causing any drag. You'll see straighter cuts.

Looking good, hopefully you will be reinforcing the welds on the frame with at least 1/4" steel plate . Also a sub frame connector with a drive shaft loop and exhaust passages would stiffen the frame for anything you throw at it. Cannot wait to see how it all turns out.

Pointers: if you want really accurate angled cuts and square cuts, spray your steel with black spray paint then mark your lines with a scriber/awl your accuracy will improve 100%. Your bandsaw blade wandering: adjust the tension. As the blade gets used it will stretch. There should be a way to adjust the tension inside the bandsaw. If you want your square frame rail to match up even more accurately with the angled pieces, split the angle between the two. Right now, your square ended rail is shorter than the angled cut so they won't match up exactly. If you split the angle between the two, they will be perfectly the same. For eg: if the angle you want is 30 deg, you can cut one at 30 or both at 15. Both at 15 is mucho betterino. As someone else said: to reinforce your welds, you could put fish plates over them and weld those on.

Very professional tool for pros like you!

This is his 1st custom build. So he'll learn what tools he needs if he decides to be more involved in this sort if build in the future. Even tho a chop saw isnt a a big expense, no sense in purchasing something you wont use that often. He obviously hasn't needed one in his previous rebuilds. (Plus hes using his frame rack as a work bench, using a plasma on a frame rack work bench isnt recommended lol). As far as weight, what hes doing now is lighter than the factory frame rails most likely because of all the extra added weight from everything else factory frame rails have attached to them. This type if tube is most often used in builds like this.as far as the fish plates, we run a 68 Prostreet Camaro that runs 4.50's that doesnt have fish plates. If he does a full cage which I believe he will, fish plates wont be needed. Hes doing a great job.

Use the frame as is brother, it needs the rigid heavy duty frame because those cars stock, when you start adding more power things start to sagg and bend up since it's a light car anyway. The older Mustangs most people end up tying the frame with sub from supports etc. Also you will have better support to weld in a roll bar if you so chose to, I love what your day now to it💯💪🏁😀

So I was wondering if it might had too much weight. Definitely you do whatever you want to do. It's your car. and I agree that you have to do things the way you're doing them if you intend to learn anything. Keep up the good work.

Hi from the UK love the channel . best tool to cut steel at constantly accurate angles. is with a abrasive chop saw you can set angles on the good ones so all the cuts come up the same. also a angle finder is a must that way you can find the angle and divide it in half and cut an exact mitre. Keep on with the steel section as the car needs to be strong if you go down the twin turbo root. hope this helps all the best.

It is nice to see how ambitious you are, I applaud you and am hoping you have great success with this build. I know I don't have your vision but I do remember from the video where you were cutting out the floor pan and how recessed it was compared to how it will be with those tall new frame rails. With that said... have you considered moving your "frame rails" to the outer edges (closer to the door sills) because you are going to lose about 4" of interior head room because your floor pan is going to be mounted on your frame rails? Maybe you should consider getting a factory re-production Mustang floor pan to help you mock-up the interior and also you will have all of the factory mounting locations (seats, seat belts, pedals mounts, etc) and you won't lose your interior head room.
