🇫🇷 "When I moved to Paris at 24, little did I know that the City of Lights would teach me more about life than any classroom ever did. This is my story - not of a tourist, but of an expat finding his place in the heart of France.
In this episode, I delve into the realities of fitting into Parisian life, far from the romanticised dreams often portrayed. From the little village near Nancy to the bustling streets of Paris, my journey has been a tapestry of learning, adapting, and sometimes, just trying to fit in.
Paris, a city adored by tourists, often presents a different face to expats. Ranked low in the 'ease of settling in' index, it posed unique challenges that turned into unexpected blessings. I faced debts, the pressure of not getting fired, and the daunting task of finding like-minded people in a city known for its closed social circles.
But here's the twist - it's through these challenges that I discovered the essence of community. I learned that people come together for two reasons: a common love or a common dislike. In Paris, I found both.
This video is more than just my narrative; it's a guide for anyone embarking on their expat journey in Paris or any other city. Find out why investing time in activities you love can be your gateway to finding your 'tribe' and how facing challenges head-on can lead to unexpected friendships.
So, if you're planning to move to Paris, or already navigating expat life here, let's unravel the secrets of building a community in a city that both challenges and charms.
🔔 Next week, I'll share my experiences of being classified as 'exotic' in a foreign land - the good, the bad, and the unexpected.
Stay tuned, hit that subscribe button, and join me in unraveling the true colors of expat life in Paris.

I really resonated with this! Loneliness is something not everyone talks about, and it can get really tough sometimes when you are in a new city. For me, going to the gym and joining a dance class really helped me meet people who share similar interests and to make new friends

Hey Josh. Nice to see you back near the top of my algorhythm. Found you a few years back through Easy French. You always seem super nice and you are a wicked smart hard worker. I like this advice today. I’m twice your age easily. I would love to live in France though I live in Canada which everyone thinks is amazing and it is…..in small town Canada. I have plenty of fitness/arts/cultural interests that would help me out. Just need to get the language down and plan a few 2 or 3 month stays to see how it really feels. I don’t think you can survive anywhere in Europe if you don’t do public transit and ride a bike. How do you feel about this?
