Building a Bush Plane 4 times the size of a Highlander

Спорт

Steve and Sara visit Dell Coller at his shop to learn about the build of his Turbo Prop Broussard airplane. Josh is also at the shop to weld the engine mount for the project. Dell is a good friend of ours and it was really cool to see the progress on his build.
Check out wildwestaircraft.com to talk to Steve about getting a Highlander.

Hey Thanks Sara! Great video as usual! Please keep us updated on this plane. My buddy has a Broussard and I’m sure we both will be interested to see the completed plane. I always thought a Broussard with a PT6A on it would be cool, so this is close to that.

Hello, You maybe feel what I felt as a kid, when I saw my first "Broussard" during a show in the Air base of my region... For sure, the engine you've decided to place on will change the so rich sound from the original, that I've always in my ears, but, I've to admit that if this kind of turbine, or something like this one, was available at the time the "Broussard" was produced, that would be probably the intial choice. I'm very pleased to see your illuminated face when you talk about this incedible plane ! I'll be on alert to see the rest of your challenge ! Cheers from France

Not sure if your the one or not, but I watched a stearmen in the 90 with the same setup and was relly impressed. I flew t6 for the 6 of diamond in the 70 thru 90ies, and after a while all airshow become the same. But this one I still remember 30 years later...

That's some real tech. innovation, superb video. ELT sends to satellite via the 406 signal and triggers an S&R to NOAA. No more 125mhz vhf. That's why the helpers from FAA show up. That S&R happens to much.

Great project, but beware the Broussard is known to have to be centered rear for the landing, either with a mass or a personnel, then with a propulsion very slight compared to the radial engine, it will be necessary to be careful for this subject . In france we know well this problem .

Is there another way to get out of that airplane? That sliding door seems vulnerable to getting jammed shut in the case of a "hard landing" where the door frame could become misshapen. If flying single pilot it would be difficult to pre-release it in an emergency situation.

Seems like a waste of a classic aircraft but, if he was going to try and get any practicality out of it, he should be looking into the turbine mod they do to some of the DHC2 Beavers, where they take the front of the fuse from the cockpit forward, and move the whole lot forward one seat row. The motor doesn't end up on long spindly mounts, the pilot's now out front with better visibility, and you've got an extra seat row (three more pax on the CofG), win/win I'd say.
