About Live Free or Die:
Live Free or Die follows five members of a remote but growing American subculture of self-proclaimed Re-Wilders who’ve vowed to leave the modern world behind in order to survive in backwoods, deserts, mountains and swamps by hunting their own food, building their own shelters, and finding their own water - using only their own two hands, sharp intuition and time tested methods.

Matt is a wealth of knowledge, skills and integration of spirit with nature. A delight to listen to and watch. There is so little authentic living and philosophy in how we live today. Thanks, Matt!
note to self, always bring rope when building make shift boats.
This was awesome! Thanks for this treat. I came here after reading Isaiah 18:2
Honestly, if you're going out in the wild, it's only smart to bring rope and a machete, along with matches/lighter and/or firestarter.

You can easily make that with wild plants if you know what to look for, but that much would take at least a week to produce. That's also providing that you were wrapping it while kicking back for a whole lot of hours and not doing anything else. (Natural cordage that's actually worth a damn is quite time intensive, so I'm sure they're skipping all that to keep things short. So it's reasonable to treat it as an available resource, even if not immediately so as in this presentation.)
Well done pilgrim!
haha that paddle. funny guy. :)

You people are stupid if you don't know that human waste is everywhere.
sweet
So, did he die? How long until the boat sank? How viable was that paddle; it looked like it was working minimally. Somebody send me some analysis pls!

This method could be done in many parts of the world. For instance boats like these were popular in Egypt for thousands of years. The Egyptian ones are made from papyri. In this video he said the plant he used was a bullrush. In general it's a matter of looking for a long stemmed plant that is very lightweight when dried. On of the benefits of using this type of plant is that it can be done in places that have few trees.
As a dude with a beer swamps him with his motor boat...

We used to make boats like this when I was a kid. Except we used kite string. It was cheap.

How about some credit for native people in north and south America, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Japan and elsewhere who invented and used reed boats for thousands of years?

Where a lot of these people get their ideas from. I would trust some of their skills over these people anyday. They live it instead of just acting it
