Building a Bobbed Deuce from a Military 6x6 - Xtreme 4x4 S6, E5
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
33 years ago, it was a 2 ton US Military workhorse. We rescued this M530C fire truck from the scrap yard and found it could not only crush cars, but actually still pump water! Ian and Chris tear it down, and prepare to build a 4x4 deuce with a bed.
Part 2: • Adding 4 Link Suspensi...
Part 3: • Bobbed Deuce: Big Truc...
PARTS USED IN THIS EPISODE:
100 Dollarman: 20" HEMTT wheels with custom centers for Rockwell axles.
100 Dollarman: Used 14.00R20 Michelin X Tires.
Boyce Equipment: Dealers in the field of military trucks, truck parts and equipment.

Monogamous Bonobo A Ignition Compression Engine can use Diesel,Fluids, and Oil just like a Multi-Fuel.A Multi-Fuel is still a Diesel Engine that has different Pistons,Injectors, and Fuel Pumps which is why you can even use Gasoline, but only if it is Mixed with Diesel or Motor Oil.The 7.8L was a turd and under powered. They were only a success overall for the 2 1/2 Ton Truck and because Military Trucks don't see many Mileage, about 30,000 some times. That was until they came out with the M35A3 which had Caterpillar Engines.
You guys were brave using those quick links to lift that load with instead of shackles.

You can run aviation “Gas” in a 2 and half ton military truck. We had an aviation gas tanker in Germany (1958-1962) and it always ran on 80/87, 91/96 or 100/130 octane. We actually ran all our vehicles on aviation gas. We were suspose to use MO Gas, but never had a local at the airfield.
Nice project, I would love to see a project based on the Soviet Kraz-255 monster. This is my pick for a end of the world vehicle.

I like them in 4x4, I would like to see one shortened with a steering axel on the back, but more importantly, there is no way I would part with that pump :D That is by by far the most fun part !
The only gripe i have about this is that they only left 9 feet of frame on it when the intended cargo is 10 feet. You had all that spare frame left, you could have broken out the tape measure and checked

We had one of these pumpers on the volunteer fire department I was on for 40+ years. We called it our Tasmanian Stump Jumping Pumper. There was time that I was off road more than on road fighting brush fires. We also had a truck they called a Gamma Goat.

Drove these trucks for 3 years in the Marines. We ran them on contaminated jet fuel all the time. If the need arose, probably would run on Jack Daniels.
You shouldn't use gasoline unless its an emergency. Because you will burn the injection pump up. Diesel fuel lubricates the pump, and gasoline is a good cleaning agent.

Wish I had a dime for every mile I've driven one of those tough, ugly S.O.B.s One of the versions we had when I first enlisted had a gasoline engine with the exhaust going out between the right side axles. Some of the Germans loved to cut in and out of our convoys and slow down to make us pass them. If you timed it just right, you could make the truck backfire into the German driver's window. That usually was sufficient to make them go away.
When is the next video gonna be posted about this truck?
