I’ve watched a bunch of your videos. You must be my favorite hardscape channel!😂 I like all your jobs and the double accent lines and this is actually how I found your channel “paver accent”. Your videos are very fun to watch and to see the final product. And Benny definitely adds to the fun 😂

5/3/2023 what kind of glue or caulking is the one you using to glue the blocks, also do you make footings for the walls or just sitting on gravel? Thanks… beautiful job

We use (Concrete Adhesive). There are quite a few manufactures that make it. The particular one i am using is made by (SRW Products) And the wall is built on 3/4" clean, crushed stone. No concrete footing
Why do you invert the wall block next to the corner block?
Very well done. At 11:06 when you ended the wall block but still used the cap as the border how did you restrain it? You guys definitely did it right by using the cap for the border. We have done the same thing just curious if you did a concrete edge against the cap like its a paver or how you guys do it. Thanks

Thank you! We did concrete the edges of that cap around the corner. I love that cap and I think it made this area pop! ✌
Just found your channel few months ago. I’m hooked on em. Thanks so much to you an Benny. For a starter for hardscaping you think a Bobcat T100 is well worth it for a 1 man team ?

That's awesome, glad you are enjoying them! Those MT 100's are excellent machines. But there are also very comparable ones from other manufacturers that may save you money. Ditch Witch, Kubota and a few others too. Just do some good research before buying. But also remember you will still be breaking pallets down in 1/3rds or 1/2's to move them around. ✌
Awesome work guys -- subscribed to your channel and enjoyed watching your work. I live in NC (non freeze zone). I am trying to DYI build a 10X12 patio with concrete paver along with a wraparound sitting wall (20" high) with couple of columns. Need a bit of advice -- I have clay soil in this area. Do you think it would be ok if I use paverstone base gravel 3" deep with 1" pea gravel (from homedepot) and lay paver on top of it? I love your idea of not using sand - don't want to use brock paver base but trying to minimize digging effort. Appreciate your advice and recemmendation.

Thank you, glad you are enjoying the channel! I would recommend doing the base prep the same way I do all my projects. It works especially good for clay subsoils. The clean stone does nothing but help your lawn drain better, it will not make it worse. Here is a link to a video where I explain the method in more detail 👉kzread.info/dash/bejne/dZyVrMdsetSqZqw.html

@@TheChristianHardscaper👍 thanks for responding in your busy schedule. I was just giddy when I visited a local quarry and they also explained the new vs old method. Cancelled HD paverbase and pea gravel and ordered 3/4 and 3/8" -- I might need to dig a little more but do it once and do it right the first time.
So it’s okay to put 3/4 clean stone for base?? Or Is 3/4 modified stone better for base? What’s your opinion?
@TheChristianHardscaper
Жыл бұрын
It is more than ok to use clean stone for the base, but the geotextile fabric under it is key. I have been laying walkways, walls, patios, steps, etc... on clean stone for 4+ years now. No issues with over 150 installs. Here is a link to a video I made which explains the method in much more detail 👉kzread.info/dash/bejne/dZyVrMdsetSqZqw.html
does that underlayment (under the 3/4" clear stone) allow water to pass through it?
@TheChristianHardscaper
11 ай бұрын
Yes it does, it is strands of plastic woven together. And when backfilled with stone or gravel, it opens the strands up and lets water pass while keeping the soil separate. ✌
is that a wall cap border?

also is there a benefit to doing rice up against the house between border instead if easy joint?
@TheChristianHardscaper

There is a 1 block high wall / cap along the house to protect the siding and trim work from the pressure of the backfill. It creates a barrier to prevent any issue in the future. Check out this video which explains it more 👉kzread.info/dash/bejne/gn18qbp_odOffrA.html

Why do you fill the wall blocks with rocks? I dont think it's in the manufacturers guide to fill the holes? Also why are you not using the plastics the blocks come with to stack them up on top of the glue?
@TheChristianHardscaper
Жыл бұрын
Core filling helps lock everything together and ultimately gives the wall more weight. The glue is more than enough on a 3 block high wall. I would definitely use the plastic locking connectors if it was a retaining wall. But I have found that when you use them, it is hard to keep the blocks perfectly straight dur to the imperfections of the blocks. Just using glue allows you to keep the face of the blocks very straight.

@The Christian Hardscaper okok i see thanks One more question. Arent the walls suppose to be lined in a way where theres no gap in between them? ( the V). I mean shouldnt you rotate them 180 degree so theres no space
@TheChristianHardscaper
Жыл бұрын
@@OMGKRU You would do that for a double sided wall. These blocks are designed to be built with those V gaps in the back if you are building a single face wall. If you are building a 2 face wall, you would rotate them. But with glue and stone in the V gap, those blocks are locked in tight. If you were to rotate the blocks, the project would cost a lot more money.....

@@TheChristianHardscaper I want to do a retaining wall that also doubles as a sitting bench. Do you have any videos showing how to build a retaining wall? Would you essentially build it the same as this wall or would you compare each layer and make it double sided? Any rebar or concrete needed for say an 18” retaining wall? Is there specific capstones you like to use if it’s acting as a sitting bench? Or would you just use the same ones in this video?
