If Im not mistaken, that Volvo was developed for a V6 or a V8, there are rare V6 versions of it out there, but the V8 was cancelled completely due to the oil-crisis when the 240-model were in late stages of release.

@@MaskinJunior the volvo 264 is fitted with the PRV-V6 which was originally intended to be a v-8 but due to the oil crisis in the early 70s basically 2 cylinders were cut of and was made into a v-6. I have seen very rare examples of 240s engine swapped with a v-6 but not sure if some were factory fitted with them

That's the thing with (V8) sleepers - if you want to make a really good one, you have to start with a car that already came with that engine type, like a crappy, 120 - 150 hp one, but a V8 nonetheless. That rumble is a dead giveaway for a car that only came with a 4-banger...

Just have a local shop put a plain old 350 into a cheap Volvo wagon. It'll smoke tires all day long. Get a Volvo that doesn't run for a few hundred bucks, and a junkyard 350 for a few hundred bucks and pay a little bit to get it put together. Don't let your lack of knowledge prevent you from having the car you want, for cheap. You could probably end up with a running sleeper for a few thousand bucks, if research a bit and plan it out.

I have loved this entire build, and I’m excited to see what the “big news” is going to be! I have my guesses, but I will keep them to myself. Whatever comes, I’m sure it will be fantastic. BUT I WANT MORE DAD-SON CONTENT 😁

I don't know much about cars, but I'm just learning to weld and seeing the exhaust pipe come together was inspiring. Is that stainless steel?

Just going to take a second to say WOW! I am a heavy equipment mechanic, working mostly on overhead cranes and wheel loaders. As a hobby I like to build my own cars. I like to think that I'm quite good at it. I'm nowhere near this guy's level. Insane.

Volvo actually had a supercharged estate car in their mainstream line up that is legendary in Europe and very fast. They used to tune it further and race it.

I love sleepers. I once bought an old Holden ute in OZ. It had old rusty narrow wheels, undercoat on the body and a bit of surface rust here and there, but under the bonnet was a super charged 350 Chevy, top loader gearbox and Muncie diff. It was a beast. On the way home it was so funny to look at the faces of people in great high powered cars as this thing just left them gobsmacked.

Had a 92 240 DL with over 373k on original motor and transmission. Ran the piss out of it. Used the kick down switch constantly. Not sure how is survived me but it did. Still going strong to this day 15 years later.

Most people watchig this don't even realize the ammount and complexity of work this is. Rebuilding the rear axle like that, the oil pan, suspension, calculations, runs to the store and back, trying if it fits, taking it back down, wiring the cables, transmission, doing the steeeing, custom engine mounts, all that piping, custom vacuum system, cooling, oil for the turho and all the other things. The part that you get to see is just the tip of the iceberg. I've done similar things and damn...

I own a Volvo and I love to see these builds and how Volvo´s are able to become such monsters. Here in Europe we have so many safety and regulations in place that is impossible for us to do such swaps on our cars, for every change (even minor) we need to ask the brands acceptance (if the brand accepts, not often) we have to register it for the early inspection.
