    Great looking tank. Are there any concerns with the surging water movement in the tank weakening the tank seams or the welds of the stand?

    Hey, thanks for your question! These are some of the things we do to help assure long term structural integrity: We use silicone based “tabs”, at the vertical joints and on all joints directly related to the bottom seams where the vertical panels join the bottom of the tank itself. We use silicone aquarium sealant that is specially designed for use with building glass aquariums. In the larger glass tanks, like our 1680 in our showroom, we utilize a top and bottom powder coated aluminum set of “frames” that are typically 2” x 2” welded together. We will build the actual glass bottom and four walls on a typical rectangular tank right into the base frame, utilizing silicone to fill in the areas with tolerance to accept the dimensions of the actual glass box. With these taller glass tanks, we also add glass strips on the outside of the vertical seams. We ALWAYS allow for the silicone to “cure” for at least a few days between the build processes, and also for at least another two to three weeks, depending on the size of the glass tank. The structural stainless-steel stands that we build are done so by competent, professional welding companies and are “over built” to industry standards and then leveled and secured to the concrete or tile floors with Red Heads or Tapcons. We also ALWAYS use Styrofoam sheets of ¾” to 1” thick on top of plywood that is secured to the stand prior to placing the BIG TANK onto its final resting place. It's pretty hard to say to you that this is the only way to do it. And we are only explaining to the readers what we do that works for us. If you are planning to build a glass tank, our advice would be to go to a reputable tank builder instead of building your own!

    I have a 48x48x24 Planet Aquarium tank. Hardly a big tank. The stand is 2x2 welded steel. I have thought about creating a surge or standing wave using a pair of gyre wave pumps. Tunze lists a warning on their wave boxes saying the surge or standing wave can cut the life of the tank in half.

    Hello, Jos! Typically, Euphyllia corals can live in harmony beside one another. There are exceptions, but it is uncommon. We monitor the corals health and behavior on a daily basis, so if we notice any aggression between two corals, we separate them accordingly. Thanks for asking!

    Can I ask why choose a bigger type gravel like that instead of a fine grain sand? Live sand? Obviously you know what you’re doing I’m just curious.

  • @nguyen087

    @nguyen087

    Probably due to high flow in the system. You wouldn’t want sand blowing all around.

  • @ReefAquariaDesign_

    @ReefAquariaDesign_

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@nguyen087 That is correct! Though, we do have a designated area sectioned off for finer sand. It is placed slightly hidden away to avoid it being picked up too much. We incorporated this to give wrasses the opportunity to sleep or hide if they please! Thanks for answering the question!
