Using LEGO and LEGO Technic I build and demonstrate 8 different types of door latches. From simple mechanisms to the more complicated, LEGO is a great tool to demonstrate the principles of operation!
One of the door latch mechanisms is motorised with a LEGO Power Functions motor.

People dismiss it quickly because it’s a “toy” but when they bring out a supercar with a working 8 speed sequential gearbox it doesn’t sound like a toy 😂

I use the Sony ZV-E10! Small and compact but works really well!

There was no point for the chain on the last one, I mean it doesn’t even look good 😭😭
Latches have to be operable from both sides. Cool builds, but no thanks.

Not if it’s the door to a safe. Also, it’s LEGO.. so it’s not meant to be taken that seriously. Also, I’ve had several fence doors that only latch on one side.
