If you want this look, that is actually a far better and much cheaper idea. I think it's a shame that such a beautiful tube like the one she used is being painted to look like almost any cheap one you can buy at a garden center. And it's expensive too, there is a lot of material going into that. No problem if you want to preserve the natural beauty of a tub. I'd love to have such a nice weathered one. Depends on someone's taste I guess. But her enthusiasm is contagious. Now I really want one.

Why does the pot need to be waterproofed? Isn't it already waterproof?
@Earthy-Artist2 жыл бұрын
This is beautiful. My only concern would be for the toxic chemicals in the waterproofing & paint. Birds, wild animals, and even a dog or cat might be vulnerable to harm if they decide to take a drink from this fountain. I'd rather use non-toxic materials to protect animals.
@kt9495

A solution to this would be to use ceramic and either run your tubing through the bottom and seal with marine epoxy. It won’t leach once cured, or set inside another waterproof basin.

Do you have to do anything special to avoid breeding mosquitos? Or, is having the fountain feature enough to keep the away? I take it you also have to use that liquid to prevent that mildew smell too?
@harveythepooka
7 жыл бұрын
For mosquitoes you can either get some poisons to put in the water, which I am not sure how they will affect wild life, or you can get a few small gold fish. For the size of her pot, 1 or 2 at most and they will eat the larvae. I would assume the pot wouldn't get mildew if it was completely sealed. You could also use a plastic pot, or else use some pond lining instead of the painted membrane.
@J.Cameron.Stuart.Adams.
