Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Plans for this Shop-Made Edge Sander are available here: www.woodsmithplans.com/plan/s...
Creative director, Chris Fitch has a knack for making homemade power tools. His latest project is a full-size edge sander. This shop-built power tool makes quick work of tough sanding jobs. Plus, it can be built at a fraction of the cost of a comparable commercial unit. The best part is... this shop-made version is constructed from common materials and hardware, making it both practical and affordable.

Could you provide a bill of materials, or a cost estimate? Otherwise, I don't know if I'd be taking on a $300 project or $1000...

This is not a comprehensive video. Is there a build video for this? Where do I get the hardware, for example, the knobs and springs? The plan page only lists the easy item that you could find anywhere. The threaded rod, knobs and springs are not as easy to source.

A few months ago we commissioned Rod Reyes of My Garage Woodshop to do some videos on this project. I thought he did a great job and you can find his build video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmdoktKtZs2bn8o.html

The sources and part numbers for the hardware are listed on page 15 (last page) of the plan. Most are from McMaster.com.

My shop lacks an edge sander and wide belt sander to be complete. I've sourced a 2hp, 2ph motor for this project and will begin construction next month.

I have this issue as well as the plans. Curious why there is not a cutting diagram? Lots of parts and a bit of a chore to layout. Do you have one available? Thanks.

Good question... I did some digging and did not find a cutting diagram either. A lot of times there isn't room for it in the magazine but we'll include it as an online extra, but for some reason.

We do have a limited number of plans that are also in metric: www.woodsmithplans.com/metric-woodworking-plans/ but yeah, we're kind of stuck with our Imperial system here. We've tried to convert to metric several times, but it just doesn't take.

That woman at the end was quite a surprise. Usually these Woodsmith things feature middle-age white men only. Nice to see that they do have at least one woman on staff.

At first I was like,"Hey, I'm not middle-aged!" but then realized I am in my 40's now :( Yeah, Becky is usually running the show behind the camera, but we can coax her out to shoot some stuff every now and again.

You're kind of shying away from the issue. You need more women in front of the camera on the show. I know that most of your audience consists the weekend-warrior types, but there are plenty of women out there doing woodworking. The popularity of channels such as Anne of all trades and April Wilkerson proves that. Woodsmith is in desperate need of diversity (i.e. fewer middle-age white men) in its presenters. It's 2020, after all, not 1920.

gentlemandude1 - we’re not opposed to any diversity in our videos. I love April and Anne’s work. We had Anne out for our Woodsmith Workshop event last fall and she is amazing. We had Nancy Hiller come do a kitchen cabinet class for us, and she is such a knowledgable woodworker. We are open to all woodworking contributors regardless of their gender, age, or ethnicity. Unfortunately, it costs a lot of money to bring in outside talent like the ones you mentioned.

@@gentlemandude1 WHY "do you need more women in front of the camera"? Huh? From the day Woodsmith began, they became the elite of woodworking magazines. It lacked NOTHING. The owner and his staff of men were geniuses. Oh indeed yes. And they still are "none better". So I ask again, "WHY do you need more women in front of the camera on the show"; when they need nothing more to continue their awesome magazine's history. Is it because you want more "feminatzi's" trying to rule over all men? Huh? Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
