Build This $700 Table for $20 / One Day Build / Make Money Woodworking
With a built-in optional charger! This $20 modern rustic table was the easiest table I've ever built and would make a perfect beginner project that can be built using basic hand tools! Don't let the design fool you!
If you follow the "Make Money With Woodworking" series... this is a perfect example of what I talk about. I take popular expensive builds and break them down to show just how simple they are to build while adding my own twist! In this case, I figured out how to build this and replicate the modern rustic design using only 2 -2x10s! Of course, I couldn't stop there so I incorporated an optional wireless charger with all wires hidden within the build... it looks like an intricate build... but once I figured out how they built it... It was a piece of pie (pecan not pumpkin). Enjoy!

The fact that you can cut a circle with a jig saw blows my mind. I kept thinking "Yeah I'd use the router and a circle jig, otherwise that's gonna be oblong".
I have access to all of the pallets and various sizes of wood from my work. I like the fact that I help them keep the scrap to a minimum and I profit from my projects. Super bonus. Just remember, a failed project makes good firewood.

Glue the halves together, make a circle. Wooden cart wheels, home made bandsaw wheels, bar stool, outdoor table, or plaques for trophy or animal mount.

Lol thanks for all the support!
Use two of the half circles to make a shelf in the table itself. I think it would look very geometrically cool! Plus add more storage to the table. You can even light it up with some underlighting from the table top. Now will it slide in there if you attach the two pieces together? I think it should. Or you use pocket hole screws and attach the two while in the table. Don't think to much on how to make a lazy Susan under there, it'll make your mind hurt. However I would think a nice thick rustic lazy Susan is always a good seller. You can make the shelf and one Susan or two Susans with the scraps.

It's just that the width of the sawblade is missing so it's a rather loose fit with the shelf. Maybe it can still work with some shims. Good idea otherwise!
@christiantanner4363

It would work, just wouldn’t set center. You could notch out the circle (after gluing the two pieces together to make the circle) to allow for the inner part of the legs to fit into the circle, giving it support without needing fasteners
@dondale68

@@dkpianist Or you could sand the sides of the disc, maybe 5deg, it'll fit just a bit lower but there'll be plenty of gluing surface.

I'd use some biscuits with the cutouts and make a matching pair of nightstands for next to the bed
OK, I LOVE the hood you've designed for the miter saw. I had a friend in the wood shop yesterday, & even w/PPE, was shocked at how difficult it was for him to breathe in there. I'm going to have to make some custom dust collection pieces for an older table saw, & for a miter saw that doesn't like to keep dust collection hoses on.
Another awesome video. The charger idea is genius. Pottery barn is out of their minds charging 700 for that table.
You could make a plant stand with the circle scrap pieces. They look like miniature stools to elevate potted plants. Could use 2x2s to make a interlocking jacks style base.
Use the cutouts to make a shelf for inside the circle. I would also use a forstner bit to inset the threaded inserts for the feet levelers, for a cleaner look.

Great channel. My suggestion for those 1/2 circles is to put them back together as 2 full circles and create an old looking wheel barrow type planter. Hopefully this sparks some ideas. Keep up the great info and ideas and thank you for the inspiration.

I really like these. We have farmhouse style all through our house and this will fit in good! Nice work. The circle cut outs could be used to make 2 stools for the table and make it a set
another great build!
One nice thing I noticed about the charger is the QC coil is powered from a USB Type C cable, and the stock cord plugs into the charger wall unit, so the cord can be removed. So if you need a longer cable, you can replace the original with a longer one ( up to 10 ft is common). Perhaps a mod would be to use a USB C female connector at bottom of the table leg with a shorter cord to the coil unit in the top. Then the buyer can use a 6' or 10' cord to the 18watt type C wall unit and that cord would then plug into the C female connector at the bottom of the leg. Plus it makes the unit more modular and there is no cord hanging out if the charger is not needed in one location (say if the table is moved for a short term situation). Makes it more versatile.
@matthewryan8463
Жыл бұрын
I was thinking it would be nice to have an easier way to replace the cable running down the leg if it goes bad - your suggestion might work with that, depending on the size of the female end, if you made the channel a little bigger, you could potentially pull a new cable through if necessary

Use the circles cut outs for a Ying yang style matching end table
The circle cutouts could be incorporated into plant stand. I recently did and practiced dados with circular saw and half lap with table saw. Or groove out the half and make a simple vase, half circle shelves are meh but yeh, what about a kiddo balancing toy? That has definite noodle potential for maker and user. Also the inspiration and ideas from using tools in new (continuing safety as a theme) to try new things without the entire Encyclopedia Britanica is still pretty cool. And merry winter days everyone! Solstice, Christmas, New Years, Boxing Day?
I love it

You could make a 2 tier plant stand from the half circles
Hey neighbor. Started watching your channel and a few others and have rekindled the woodworker flame in me and I think I’ll make this my first new project.
This is awesome. I saw a couch table with cup holders. It was placed between the couch and the wall. So I built one for our sectional, just for the one side that sat against the wall. Mine has 3 cup holders (ordered a pack of 10 from the jungle store) and a charge station with two receptacle plugs and two USB ports (also from the jungle store). Plug was $15.00, cup holders were about the same for a pack of ten (I used 3), and the wood was basically free, I used two 2 x 6 x 10. It turned out great, and all from just looking at a picture some one shared on social media. Now if I could just start getting some orders!
Thanks for sharing appreciate it

This a great, I make all my projects from pallets, any scrap I have I make it into something. Those half round pieces would make nice shelves or sconces or even put 3 1 x2” x 3’ legs & have a nice bedside table. Usually any scrap pieces that are too small I feed in my rocket stove heater.
With the extra circle “waste”, consider making a cricket table. It’s historic and it looks really cool. Love following your videos! Merry Christmas Matthew!
You can use those round scraps as a hanging planter if you rout out a round section and som thick jute rope to attach hang them

The half circles could be a split clock with epoxy center. Maybe the middle strip 2 to 3 inches wide. The epoxy can hold the clock hardware or have the face offset and put a logo in the unused space.
