    Tried this today after watching what has felt like 100 tutorials. My 3rd set of dip nails and this tutorial made all the difference! My first 2 manis were thick, hot messes and I was afraid I was in over my head after purchasing lots of supplies. Your videos are so clear and thorough, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!

    You are the absolute sweetest!! I think we’ve all had that moment where we commit to buying the product and are terrified we won’t see pretty results. You should see my first MANY dips 🤣🙊 they were rough lol! But you will find your own little rhythm and get better each time! I feel like I’m still learning each time too 🥰💕

    I made a comment the yesterday but I just had to make a second one. I was close to giving up on DIY dip powder after I spent over $200 on supplies but luckily I found this young lady. OMG EVERY THING SHE SAID WAS TRUE. I applied her tutorial to my index finger and BIG DIFFERENCE. My nails no longer looks like a platerpus. If you follow her instructions to the T you will get a nice Apex. I'm a subscriber now

I'm new to dip powder and no matter what I did, I always had chunkiness around my cuticle area and it seemed to take me forever to file it down (both hand and efile). • @SipAndDip

    @SipAndDip

    4 жыл бұрын

    Felicia Depaepe you are so kind! Thank you so much for your support! 🥰❤️ so from what I have gathered, I believe the clear bubbles could be from excess powder between your layers. So after each dip, use a firmer bristle brush (not fluffy) like a toothbrush and brush really good to get all of the excess off. You can also try to pour your clear over instead of dipping into the jar. Please let me know if that helps! 💕💕

    I was so scared to do my first dip, but I feel like I really did a pretty good job with it tonight thanks to this video! I have a question though: how do you know which powders and liquids of different brands work together? I have Revel liquids but there are just so many options I can't help but be curious of the others. I've heard SNS is the one that really has to be same brand liquid and powder. Which brand combos have you tried with success?

  • @SipAndDip

    @SipAndDip

    4 жыл бұрын

    Casey R yayyyy for a successful first dip! 🙌🏼 I’m so happy for you! I have tried lots of different combos of liquids and powders. So far I’ve only used Revel’s and Sparkle and Co’s liquids. But I’ve used them both with Triple D, Jude nails it, Jewelz Dips, Peppi Gel, Double Dips, All Powdered Up, just to name a few 😃 to the best of my knowledge, as long as it’s a normal dip system there should be no issue interchanging brand liquids and powders. Good luck with your next dip! 💕💕

    Ohhhh that’s a tough one!! I would say Sparkle is a tad bit faster. The revel pro liquids are fast ish. The ez care are slower. But sparkle is probably a little faster. I’d say sparkles is a thinner consistency though!

    I just got my first sparkle and co kit and I noticed the base bond seems to dry very fast and so sometimes I end up with splotches on my nail when I do my first layer of tip. I know I have to apply thin layers but am I not putting enough on? Just wanted to know some to prevent that

  • @Mandynailedit

    @Mandynailedit

    3 жыл бұрын

    might be applying it too thin? try quickly dipping your brush back in the base and adding a little more base before dipping. i find that happens to me too if i put on a thin and uneven layer. however, you could also just apply another layer of base the second time you dip, and just buff the base before putting on color. i build out short to medium nails with powder, so contouring the nail shape and buffing seems to be a major step in any type of dip powder/acrylic application anyway. always always buff the nail before sealing. i wipe away the powdery mess with alcohol and a lint free cloth or paper towel. and make sure you use the sealer dry (or activator, same thing) again after wiping with alcohol, the sealer dry (activator) is what will help all the powder solidify completely. using water will interfere with the product before completing the application, causing the gel top to wrinkle. and ALSO using soap and water before using gel top-don't do that! it will cause cloudiness on your gel top layer. (actually, I think the cloud effect happens even without the gel top.) either, way it just makes the nails look awful and it's just more that you'd have to file off. dry manicure is the way to go with dip. i wanted to share these things with you because i learned it all the hard way. i have also done a lot of my own research and watched many videos. i really hope this helps you and many others :) I'm not licensed and i'm not a nail tech, but I've been doing dip powder nails at home for 5 years now and i'm to the point where i'm getting pretty comfortable with my electronic nail file. my biggest challenge right now is perfecting my upper arch, but practice makes perfect lol

    Amanda Baker oh okay thank you. As I watched more videos I think I realized why I made the mistake. Also I wasn’t using a base on my first manicure but I have decided to buy one for the 2nd time around.

  • @SipAndDip

    I would definitely try using a little bit more product on your brush if you find that it is drying too quick. Just be careful not to get it on your skin. Another thing that happens to me is if I have the ceiling fan on and AC cranked down then my base dries faster. Its pretty hot where I live so this is a constant battle for me. I recently tried the gel method out with dip powder and love it so much more than dip liquids. No rushing and easier. I am uploading a video on that tomorrow but just wanted to throw another option out to you. Sorry for the late reply! My little started kindergarten so we are adjusting to our new norm. Thanks for watching!

    Absolutely! I would suggest adding one more step before you start though. Where your artificial nail meets your nail, I would apply a layer of dip powder (from the side wall to side wall). So a small strip across the nail so that there is no ridge where the nail tip meets the nail. I hope that makes sense and helps! 💕
