    My favorite part is no gloves needed! I hate wearing gloves but people keep telling me to wear them so I think its great seeing someone else not afraid to get their hands dirty!

    I used to think the same way until I painted aircraft parts with highly toxic paints. Some of those chemicals can absorb through the skin (ie brake cleaner) and long term exposure can cause cancer, when my son was born it changed how I look at those things. What if I have trace chemicals on my hands or boots taking them home and exposing him to them. Just because others take different precautions doesn't me we are afraid to get dirty, I used to used brake clean or stripper to clean my hands now I don't do anything with chemicals without gloves

    quick tip, if you turn the engine on its side when torquing main bolts you don't have to hold the engine with the other hand so you'll be pushing down and not pulling. Can't wait to here the first startup!!

    I think its always a good idea to put the camshaft in first. If there's an issue with the cam bearings not being installed correctly or the cam doesn't fit correctly it's easier to fix before assembling the rotating assembly. If you wait tell last to install the cam and there's a problem than you have to disassemble the shortblock in most cases the correct the problem. Good job👍

    Fellow Bardstownian here. That must be exciting to be finally doing! I'm not new to the learning game but I am new to the building game. I'm well on my way this year though... I don't have the cash to buy a crate engine all at once. Would you suggest starting with a new block and buying parts as i can and building over time? Or pulling a junk yard engine and getting machine work and new enternals. Trying to balance what i could do soon vs. something more worth waiting for while focusing on suspension. Also, can i just walk up into BTR and talk to them about what i need? Lol

  • @britneyautomotive

    @britneyautomotive

    Жыл бұрын

    You can come talk to them or just call, I’d say that question is based off of preference! There’s a ton of fast junkyard engines. Crate engines are going to guarantee a fresh clean block. Sometimes you run into a deal you can’t pass up. Really just depends on what’s available at the time you buy and for what price! I have a crate engine so I skipped on replacing the bottom end but will do so next season. I’m also not used to going as fast as I will this year so I need seat time before I really send it anyways!

    You definitely got in an arm workout here. Can't wait to see you build the trans. They can be finicky and difficult. There will be a variety of facial expressions on that video. Haha. Go Britney.

    If this is the process for most cars when rebuilding the engine, seems simple enough, what i don't get it's all the measurements you need to buy everything that fits.. can you explain that more. Thanks.. and keep up the excellent work!! I wanna hear that "Ratatata" jaja

    That’s much more of a broad question than you’d expect. A lot of variables that can change the entire process and what to use. Your best bet is to talk to the engineers at whatever company you’re buying parts from
