I assumed Francesca is bi and her reaction to the kiss was more that there was no passion in it. She clearly likes John, her glowing happiness is obvious. There's just no carnal lemme rip your clothes off passion. And she felt that the moment she saw Michaela walk in. It's not so much that she's never met a woman. She wasn't attracted to the debutants either--same as Benedict realizing he's not attracted to every man he meets. But rather, Michaela is gorgeous, spicy and shamelessly flirty the way most of these "innocent" court women aren't.

I do not think francesca is bi. I think she’s a lesbian and her reaction to kissing john was her realizing that there isn’t a spark between them. although she loves him, she isn’t in love with him. when she meets michaela she experiences that “spark” for the first time just like her mother said she would.

Infatuation and true love are truly entirely different from one another, and often people do easily mistake those two to be as one.

michaela is michael from francesa’s book and she is her endgame, NOT john. francesca’s story was changed to be queer because the writer recognized those elements in her book and thought it completed her character arc. she is not going to cheat on john. in fact, I don’t even think she fully realizes what are feelings for michaela even are. the storyline with john was not for nothing. a “quiet love” can still exist it just doesn’t always have to be romantic and can instead be based on companionship over passion.

This is my favorite season and couple but it’s a shame because nic and Luke have great chemistry and I loved the scenes we got but I wanted more. To many storylines. Also I along with a bunch of other fans went back and watched the other seasons polin has the least screentime together and there is a rumor that they cut a lot of scenes which sucks. Like how are they gonna cut the main couple scenes then have ben have multiple threesomes for no reason etc. it just makes me feel bad for the actors they are the reason I even watched this season because their press tour and friendship was so cute/good just for the show runner to not utilize their chemistry ugh. It’s such a bad look they decided to did all this storylines when the leading lady is midsize wtf. Polin deserved better😬

Your editing is interesting in this video, you barely showed any of Penelope’s speech, none of Colin’s to Penelope at the end, or the moments between Portia and Penelope that really bonded them, especially the maybe we are more alike than I care to admit. Not sure if you’re trying to get people to your patreon, but these were pretty crucial moments that made the episode feel satisfying.

@@NerdyNightly I think content creators underestimate how much we would like to see an intent listening silence from our favourite creators when absorbing an important and meaningful section of a scene. If not the whole scene, then a part of it. Being struck silent is as moving as a showy reaction.

Yeah Queen Charlotte is kind of really important to watch in order to understand those conversations between Lady Danbury and Violet.😅 I love that conversation so much and I really enjoy their relationship.

I thought also the Fransceca things weren't handled well. I think the introduction of Michaela can work how she was introduced in the show. But where I thought they kind of missed was her reaction to the kiss. I think the kiss at the altar should have been chaste but sweet, no weird look, still have Fran and Violet have that convo of not being able to get words out in front of your future love. Cause I think a great story of you being able to have two very different kinds of love ( a quiet comforting love vs a passionate one) can exist and no one is greater than the other and the potential for you to have multiple soulmates. Her look of disappointment feels like it kind of undercuts that message a bit. Especially with how sweet and different her love story with Jon is. Won't say anything more cause don't want to get into book spoilers.

I think I felt the same about the final episode, I know that Bridgerton also has so many storylines every season but I think they fumbled in juggling telling a full and complete resolution of the Whistledown Storyline and the Romantic storyline. Which is the ultimate goal. I personally think above all else those 2 stories have to be resolved satisfyingly for you to really feel fulfilled. Also, I think not having at least a 2- 3-minute private reconciliation of Polin in their own home ( doesn't have to be sex but some physical intimacy) is a missed opportunity. Like I'm not a big fan of the books so I'm not that attached to book deviations, but at the end of the day, the genre is Regency Romance. I think all directing and editing decisions should be made to serve the love story being told. And I think in some ways they did not do that. I enjoyed the season but they dropped the ball, especially with Luke and Nic giving great performances throughout. I felt if I'm being honest thought I overall really liked but they kind of squandered a lot of the potential.

Book spoiler: In the books, Michaela was MICHAEL. The author has made a statement saying she signed off on the gender swap.

Not all of us are OK with it though. The things Francesca experiences are relatable things (I personally relate to one of them very hard) and the genderbend completely changes it. The worst sibling to do this to. Do it to Gregory. Turn his Lucy into a Luke.

I agree that there should have been more of Pen and Colin. There was way too much time spent on Benedict in my opinion. They could have introduced his exploration in less time and given some of the love scenes he had to the Polin storyline. But I also understand that people want spice and because of how they handled Polins story it would have been weird for them to be intimate when they weren’t in a good place. As for the solicitor storyline technically that is wrapping up what happened with their cousin in the last season. So it is there for a reason, it’s explaining how they still have money. When it comes to Francesca they are definitely veering away from the original story. Fran genuinely loves John and is happy with him, Michaela is Michael (John’s cousin) and their love story happens later. I am sad with the way they handled this, I feel like they are cheapening her genuine love for John. But we will see what they do, I’m hopeful they don’t ruin it with cheating.

They weren’t unopened letters. Those were the letters she wrote him the year before when he was away. He kept them.

tbh it’s sad that Nerdy hasn’t yet watched probably the best season of Bridgerton ❤ I know there’s been uproar about gender-bent Michael/a but I really don’t care. I just liked Victor Alli so much as John Stirling that I would have the same disappointment if he was Michael. BFFs Violet & Agatha are the MVPs of this season ❤

And when they were at the Queen's garden party Francesca was speaking to the other debutantes. She wanted a kind husband. In the book, Fran was very in love with John and his cousin, Michael, was in love with Fran. They are totally changing the story.

I love how when talking about possible storylines for S4, Nerdy suddenly turned it into "How to get away with murder" set in the 1800's with Viola Davis and everything! 🤣🤣🤣

Francesca and John have a different love. It’s why Violet didn’t get it. It’s not less than what she might later feel for Michaela but she might not have much sexual attraction to him and that’s fine. I’m bi, I lean more sexually one way and romantically the other, doesn’t make me less into whoever I’m with. Frannie has to be willing to be the talk of the Ton with Michaela because while interracial relationships are the norm in the Bridgerverse (hell, Polin are so far the only white couple), queer relationships are not. What she feels for Michaela has to be eventually deep enough that she’s willing to be talked about in regard to her sexuality AND the familial relation between the Stirling cousins. They’ve confirmed Frannie loves John and that she’s bisexual. Maybe the look is that she doesn’t feel the insane spark that has her family acting like dogs in heat but she doesn’t terribly mind it because she enjoys John enough as a person 🤷🏾‍♀️ Just sucks that the fandom is up in arms about her future storyline before we get the story which might be in season 5 or 6 because of a change that the author approved and wrote herself if I’m not mistaken. The relentless comments on the actors social media has been childish and disheartening for Francesca’s actress who actually stated she’s most excited to see fans, WHO STAYED YAPPING ABOUT MAKING SOME OF THE KIDS QUEER SINCE S1 BTW, reactions

Charlotte and her eldest son basically fought about who should be Regent. They finally agreed that the prince would rule the country and Charlotte would have guardianship of the King, any minor children and the king's estate. So basically once the children grew up and moved out of the house, she had nothing to do except wait for the king to die...which is why she is bored. I'm willing to bet if the Prince had gotten custody of the king, he wouldn't have live nearly as long. Charlotte died before the King. He died about a year after her death.

In the books, it's Lady Danbury who encourages Penelope to write in the first place! 🥰 They have a great friendship in the books- it's one of the things that I miss, and wish they had done. But! I am okay with how it turned out! ❤️

Colin really needed more time and more connection with Pen for them to work out their issues. Maybe extending the scene between Colin and Pen showing them working together (the study scene after Francesca's marriage). Or when Violet receives the letter from Pen, Colin could give us a little more of his perspective and his growth of overcoming that his wife is Lady Whistledown while talking with his mother. We for sure needed a better reconciliation between Colin and Pen, more than a quick sex scene.... So many missed opportunities. Colin was really under used and his POV was not taken into consideration, especially in part 2. Having said all that, there are aome things I liked, i just felt they screwed Colin over... Edit: The sad part is that Francesca truly loves John and i loved the quite love. I do feel the way they played out Michaela undervalues the love John and Francesca have. So sad. I think the whole back clap, we all love a little gossip was BAD... Like the queen threatened to DESTROY Eloise and her family about LW but just smiles at Penelope? It makes little sense and it makes everything that Penelope DID to protect her identity before look STUPID 😅😂

It's okay to go by bi. A lot of older bi people say it's the same as what people are calling pan now anyway. (According to Tumblr.)

I just think people didn’t get this season, and it makes me very sad because it is my favorite by miles. 🤷🏾‍♀️

it's a bit rough to say...while I agree that Polin didn't get as much screen time, especially in the back half, Francesca's story needed to be set up sooner rather than later (Book readers will know why). Benedict needed to be seen as "adrift" as his season is (probably) next....but they could have cut down on his scenes. He is a fan favorite though, so maybe they were trying to please everyone and pleased only some. While Anthony and Kate had only one steamy scene in their season, they took up much more screen time than Colin and Pen did in theirs. I have few complaints, I know how hard it is to take so many books/characters and weave their storylines into some coherent plot under the constraint of only so many episodes and only so many seasons. (last I heard they were green-lit for only 6 seasons and there are 8 Bridgerton children.) The one thing that I was dissatisfied with was the reconciliation between Pen and Colin. It was very fast and simple. Even so, I understand the time constraints. so I'm not upset with the show-makers for it. For such a popular couple, it was a shame that Pen and Colin's season was the one used to set up the next two seasons.

So Lord Remington (the cool, goodlooking wheelchair guy from episode 2 or 3 who was really into gossip) had no purpose? Does he become important later? Why introduce such a distinctively memorable character for no reason?

I don't think Anthony would be too pleased if he were there. She did call Kate a "prickly beast of a spinster," after all. I don't really love the conclusion that gossip is good, actually. Was so looking forward to getting rid of the narration too, damn it. Julie Andrews has done nudity. Kate and Anthony only had one and a half sex scenes, so I can't really say that these two had less than that. I wish they would have resolved Daphne's assault of Simon in season one. Yes, Philippa and her husband are cute, but she was also the one threatening to get rid of Penelope's books.

They had a lot to set up canonically in this season. I there is a lot happening at once in the books too during this time.

To be fair, in regard to the Francesca x John thing with the cousin's arrival (Michaela, I think?), they could be intending to do it as a split attraction model 🤷 Maybe Francesca isn't sensually attracted to men (Sensual being the type of attraction kissing usually falls under) but she is definitely attracted to him Romantically, as we've seen enough evidence of. I guess time will tell whether she is attracted to him sexually (I imagine/hope we will be seeing them in Scotland next season). As for Michaela, it definitely seemed like Francesca was aesthetically (and probably sexually) attracted to her. I wouldn't count John out yet though. It's entirely possible they plan on going a poly route 🤷 more shows are nowadays, and they've already done other types of consensual non-monogamy, what with all the threesomes this season 😂 As a Poly person (at heart, though not currently in practice) I definitely ship it 💯

I think they fumbled Cressida this season but I hope she gets redeemed still

Unpopular opinion but the way people drag Colin about being mad at Penelope for all the horrible things she has said and wrote being lady whistledown and not one person says Penelope is not as nice as she looks so everyone was jumping down Colin throat for having some type of emotion and the entrapment comment after being betrayed by Marina and the person you said you loved writing horrible things about your family and your sister and then you and if Penelope wanted the Colin she knew back why does she not just ask why is he doing that if there's such good friends? I hate the way people said that Colin needed to beg more or to be more groveling but nobody said that Penelope needed to be a better person or change her character like I was not a fan of her this season and unnecessary hate Colin got and people praising anthony and Simon like Simon was activity lying to his wife because she was naive and instead of anthony to stop courting edwina and see if the feelings for Kate would go or keep growing he decided to propose but when Colin knew he wanted to be with Penelope he proposed and made sure he wifed her up quickly but Penelope the liar and impulsive writer who writes without making considering other people's feelings deserves better. Okay internet maybe you and I watched two different shows.

I agree about people judging Colin unfairly but don’t agree about Penelope she doesn’t expect from him that he grovels he apologized and she lets it go the evening before she had a lot of emotions because what happened with Cressida and then she saw Colin and she reacted in anger and wrote that he had another personality which was not good but she laters express remorse and said she should have told him and now she can do that because he gave he confidence the whole column was because she didn’t had any confidence to stand up for herself against people who were cruel to her unkind people close to her ignoring her and she has wrote things should not have because she was still young Also misguided( the modiste was the one who came with the idea about writing about Eloise and convinced her watch the episode) but her intention was to use her voice and she realized that she should have done it in another way like give a voice to the voiceless she shows remorse and regret of her actions admits that she must do better and takes action and when Colin was mad at her and kept his distance she gave him his space she reassured him that she loves him for him when she saw that he was insecure and feeling not worthy it’s the viewers who judge him unkindly but just because they give Penelope more grace doesn’t mean the character Penelope treats Colin unkindly or the other way around

The Michaela reveal is just not mathing. Episode 1 we see Fran speaking with nothing but eligible young women on presentation day. Francesca was surrounded by a bevy of non-family ladies at the garden party. The Michaela butterflies in the face of John's established love just felt forced and it cheapened their whole story arc.

I think I ended up liking the season precisely because there wasn't enough Polin. I just never got to care for them even though they should've been one of the easier couples to love.

Yeah, I think they did Colin's character a huge disservice by having him say those things to the other bachelors and having Pen (and the audience) overhear him, in Season 2. It's the same reason I couldn't really get behind a certain friends to lovers couple in the TVD universe. Like, once a character says they would absolutely never consider dating/courting someone, my brain just naturally becomes disinterested in the ship. 🤷

The Francesca story is quite annoying as I understand they might have done that for equality, but it feels wrong and I'm not homophobic as I'm gay lol, but it doesn't sit right in my opinion, John's cousin in the books is called Michael not Michela, it's a man and he marries Francesca after John dies. So the fact that they made the cousin a woman it won't sit with the book plot, I wonder how they will make it work to be fair

I'm so amazed by how unspoiled these 2 are. Like there's stuff that's super weird to them, that with the barest hint of any knowledge from the book world, would send their thoughts in a different direction.😂🩷
