As a kid I actually cried at the end of this one. I never truly realized how good I had it way back in the day. Saturday mornings were filled with the voices of Mel Blanc & June Foray among others.

... six times the normal time, effort, and expense to produce; Chuck Jones, Maurice Noble, and Michael Maltese all worked together to create this masterpiece; perfect satire of opera, ballet, Disney, and the Bugs and Elmer relationship. BRAVO, gentlemen.

All my knowledge of high culture comes from Bugs Bunny cartoons.

I agree. Bugs Bunny introduced us to classical music. Also, take note of the beautiful artwork in the background.

I think I saw this cartoon as a kid but I didn't realize the masterpiece it is. I saw it not too long ago and was completely blown away

We were at a Wagner performance of the Houston Symphony last weekend, and I turned to my daughter and said, "This is the 'Kill the Wabbit' Symphony!"

I'm most proud to say at 66 years old that all 5 of my grankids will automatically burst into appropriate reply when, without any prompting, I burst out, "Spear and magic helmet!!" Gotta raise em right 🤣

Hmmm...now I get why I am such an opera fan

Loved the cartoon, when I saw it as a kid. I remember when a friend of mine and his wife took their daughter to one of the performances in the 90s. The daughter loved it and would sing portions she could remember. Also my late mother and I would watch the Cartoon when it came on one of the local stations, and when they showed the symphony doing it. She always got a good laugh at it, especially when the lines when Elmer says oh Brunhilda your so lovely, and Bugs sang back Yes I know it, I can't help it.😄

I thought I remembered Elmer singing more about “I killed the wabbit!” As he ascended the stairs at the end.

How i got my children to enjoy symphonic music. Good memories 😂😊

I always liked the stylized background animation in this episode.

When my Bubbe and Zaydie (grandparents) would watch us when our parents were out of town I always had fond memory of Zaydie laughing so hard when we saw Bugs riding that horse.

I just noticed the "appearance" of Bugs Bunny starting to walk onstage from stage right in the last few seconds of the video. I wish the recording went a bit longer. Pretty clever!

I would have loved to see this entire program. For the LA philharmonic to accompany this cartoon in such a way reminds me of the 2002 30th anniversary rerelease of "E.T. The Extra Terrestrial" with Sir John Williams conducting the live orchestration at the premiere. The amount of time it took him to sync with the film was insane. And, it was worth it.

Somehow there's a bit of extra magic to it when the whole "That's All Folks!" bit is allowed to spell out, as opposed to the "bam, it's there" we get when we see this cartoon on TV.

Perfect! 17 hours boiled down to 7 minutes.

That may have been the original audio of Arthur Q. Bryan before they had Mel dub over it (apparently Bryan couldn't get his voice that high - Blanc, on the other hand...)

@@WarmasterJoshmaul That is Arthur Q. Bryan. This is a VERY RARE copy of the unmodified version. Most of the time I've seen it, Mel Blanc did the "SMOG!" line. I wonder how two different versions survived all these years and which one was originally shown in the theaters back in 1957.

@@rotisseriepossum Well, no info about that. Only know Mel Blanc did the SMOOG line to make it stronger. This could be the original Arthur recording, or a redub of that line to make it sound more like Elmer.
