Buffalo Live GTK - Sydney 1974 (Full Concert)
Музыка
The series title was an acronym of the phrase "Get To Know". GTK is one of several popular music programs produced by the ABC, and like the later establishment of Double Jay, GTK was created to address the perception that the Australian youth audience was being poorly served by commercial radio and TV and that international music and especially Australian popular music was allegedly being ignored by commercial TV and radio at that time.
GTK premiered on 4 August 1969 [1] and ran until 1974, after which it was superseded by the weekly show Countdown. The first series of GTK was directed by TV and event director Ric Birch. Because colour television was not introduced in Australia until early 1975, most of GTK was shot on black-and-white film or videotape, although some segments of programs ca. 1974 are known to have been shot in colour.
This presentation is the launch Only Want You For Your Body (1974).

Same for me. 1974 Peakhurst high School dance at Hurstville civic. My first proper rock show experience. Certainly memorable.
They played at my school in Fairfield NSW before 1975 because I leaved for Italy. They were absolutely great and I am happy to have found this full concert video!
What can you say. We had and still have so much talent in the land down under !!!!
The great John Baxter wails on the SG. This was when Buffalo was at their absolute monster best. I stack their 1st 3 LPs with anyone - Zeppelin, Sabbath included!

I consider John Baxter as one of the greatest guitarists in rock & roll history. Once he left Buffalo, they were never the same. He gave them that certain heavy sound. His 2 guitarist replacement could not do justice to his playing.
EPIC !!!! Dead Forever, Volcanic Rock & Only Want You For Your Body were AWESOME Aussie hard rock at it's best !!!

They were one of the first ever bands I saw play live. I was about 13 years old and I saw them at an open air show in Adelaide. I really liked them and very happy to find them here on You Tube! Wow I still really like them and I am now 59 years old. You can't beat those 70s bands. Keep on Rockin!

Essa é da geração de ouro do rock. Clássico imortal!!!
Raw talent at its best
Went to a record shop a year or so back and they had an OG pressing of Volcanic Rock(Aus pressing) on the wall. Asked about it, let me listen to a few tracks and I was blown away...so I bought it. Such a great underatted band, now I'm working on getting the other albums into my collection...slowly but surely they will end up in my vault.

Good on you , I did the same thing back in the 80s but was much easier back then I'm sure not to mention cheaper. Just amazed that they've been forgotten today by the MSM , unlike the Saints , Radio Birdmen etc, a trevasty, they were the best.
One thee best bands ever!
I met Dave Tice at Penno Pub around 1986 when he was fronting the Mal Eastick Band. Top bloke.
Correct me if im wrong, GTK use to come on around 5:50 pm every week night on the ABC. It was short but very sweet. We were starved of content in those days except for GTK. LOVED IT.

The singer has got that Eddie Vedder back-of-the-throat thing going, WAY before it WAS a thing. Effing trailblazer.
See John Baxter NOW in 2017 in his new band NEED4LOUD, first since the '70s. Has he changed or is he still rock n rollin"? So it's 4 decades later Baxter looks a lot different but still sounds ????. Does the vocals as well. To find >>Search bar >>> NEED4LOUD

Abraço e The Fabulous, Buffalo!!
Dave Tice, one of the best rock vocalists, ever.

Pedazo directo! Una banda a la altura de unos Black Sabbath.
Before acdc
Heavy garage rock at its best
Bought every Album as it come out, along with Sabbath and Budgie ( another brilliant unheard of band ). Come to think of it, buffalo and the Angels were the only Aussie bands that I bought their Albums, ACDC never did much for me, There was a 'free' group floating around Sydney called snake, and I bought their album in a second hand record shop... also good.

Australia is so different from every other continent... Its almost like it was manufactured.
I dig em
Dave Tice is an excellent frontman. This is "Pub Rock" let loose in the community. Much better in the studio, but really loose here.
Dave Tice predated Chris Cornell by 20 years. And also rivaled Phil Mogg.
Do you have the original DVD of this?
Typical 70's camera work... Focus on everything but the guitar during a solo!

This happened in any country you care to name. Nothing is new under the sun. Australia was blues based rock and roll, like any other scene and went off in different directions creating their own individual sound. You failed to mention the one guy and band who was a towering influence on Australian rock and roll, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs. A huge influence on anyone that picked up a guitar. Go read his two volume autobiography. It's fucking nuts. What a troll comment.
They sound like a heavier version of UFO. Very Sabbathy . I also hear a lot of Ted Nugent refs so I'm not quite sure who is borrowing what from who. The singer reminds me of the guy from Crow. Or aynsley Dunbar retaliation. Lots of husk in his voice. Too bad they never broke over in America but they never had a big hit. 🙋
I was impressed. The drummer is lacking though
