BUFF ORPINGTON CHICKENS LAID EGGS AT 21 WEEKS | NEST BOX | NO CROW ROOSTER

Whats up guys, just wanted to do a quick update on the buff orpington chickens. We finally got eggs from one chicken! The eggs started coming at the 21st week. I started noticing the hens making more and more noise in recent weeks and found out this is their egg song! The first egg was laid by the bamboo bush. The second time around I heard the egg song. I came out and put her in the coop and closed the door. This forced her to use the egg box we built. Since then she has been using the box.
This week the rooster started to crowing at 11 weeks. He does this at 5:00 AM to 5:15 AM. I tried the DIY no crow velcro band around his neck to see if I can keep it down. It did not work. I bought the expensive official no crow collar and that did not work either. The velcro loosens over time and you have to adjust daily. I came up with my own band and so far it is working. Let me know if you guys are interested in a specific video about it?

I always like having 1 rooster in a flock of hens. They keep everyone in line and protect them from predators. I don’t even mind the crowing.

@@prolificbreedaquatics Ok My dad grew up on a farm and he always mentioned that.But...he always said they were the friendliest and tamest chicken around. Very calm. 75% of my grandmother's flock were Buff Orpingtons.

Remember to give your neighbors eggs from time to time, that will give them something for dealing with the sounds.

Just simple Velcro. You have to keep adjusting for size since he kept growing. Another option is to use the kids toys wrist slappers. U bend it so it’s a little loose and it stays on for a while. Right now I just have Velcro
