One of the Budweiser Clydesdale teams is staying at the barn I board at and everything about the horses and the caretakers and staff that travel with them is so incredibly impressive. The horses are family to them and the staff is so proud to show them off. The horses are so carefully trained and this video is probably the greatest example of that. The horses are so calm throughout this whole ordeal- even the one on his knees and the one laying. They just waited and trusted that their people would do exactly what they did.

The first thing you teach a horse is whoa. When in doubt, whoa. When you have an inexperienced rider with conflicting signals, whoa. When something startles you, plant your feet and whoa. It saves lives when they can trust their trainer and do their part by staying still until you can release them or do whatever is necessary. It goes without saying that Bud horses have some of the best trainers in the world and literally the "pick of the litter" to choose from.

Even before I saw what happened, I could see the...restlessness? uneasiness? excitedness? in the horse 2nd row, on the right at 1:04. Then after watching the tumble carefully, I could see it was the same horse that threw his head again and fell first at 4:08. Just an observation. With a stunt like this every step, every animal has to be in tune. Maybe that horse should have called in sick.

Ashley Jones No. He was talking bullshit the whole time. It was not helpful! Typically American, with their hats on... talking like everything is okay. Even though he didn't know at that moment. Like at rodeos when animals get injured or killed and they keep talking like nothing happened... or explaining how those horses "like" to perform.... It was not an accident, it was avoidable! Such a long team should never go in an arena, at least not that fast and not without people walking next to each horse.
@tezzaflows64999 жыл бұрын
Clydesdales are naturally calm horses anyway. Hence the nickname 'Gentle Giants'. The fact that the arena was too small for an 8 Clydesdale team, the last turn was far too sharp. The Swing Team is the smallest in the middle. No wonder they tripped. I hope that the Clydesdale in the Swing Team, that was slightly limping off, is ok! I know the announcer was trying to keep the crowd calm but he was annoying as hell. Did he actually know what was going on via a radio or something?

The first thing you teach a horse is whoa. When in doubt, whoa. When you have an inexperienced rider with conflicting signals, whoa. When something startles you, plant your feet and whoa. It saves lives when they can trust their trainer and do their part by staying still until you can release them or do whatever is necessary. It goes without saying that Bud horses have some of the best trainers in the world and literally the "pick of the litter" to choose from.
THEY ARE JUST BIG SWEET BABIES. I JUST DO AND HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE CLYDESDALE HORSES. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THE VIDEO. MUCH LOVE
those horse are some beautiful animals
Truely magnificent creatures.
Horsepower - the ability horses have to inspire us.
Wow the calmness of all concerned is amazing.
Praise HIM indeed. There was so many chances for injury yet all of them seem ok, and you know those horses get the finest vet care.
Impressive. I can not believe how calm they were. Amazing !!
This should be a training video for all those in the wagon pulling sport and those who wish to commentate
That accident and recovery was the most interesting thing about that performance. It just seemed like that fall could have been prevented had that last turn not been so sharp or extreme.
I heard him mention Colorado. Was this at the National Western Stock Show? Oh man I cried a little when they fell! When these horses are working animals, these accidents must happen regularly. Horses were and are vehicles of transportation.
Awwww poor babies they are so good for being so quiet and behaving very well those were sharp turns for them to not stumble and fall.
I'm glad the horses are ok, I was worried for the one still laying down
Announcer was fantastic. Kept crowd calm and informed. Impressive.
+TheBayBear you need to rethink wat you said the one horse slipped which caused the rest to fall the wagon is designed a certain way to make it possible for them to do it it was just a little slipped proud of the people for immediately coming to help
It is good that the horses are trained to stand calmly, but for this to have happened, either the ones in front ran off or the ones in the back weren't cantering like they were supposed to. That's okay, things happen-no horse is perfect. Hats off to the trainers and safety crew. :)
Wonderful job by the trainers and handlers - this could have had a very bad outcome were it not for the amazing training of these horses and staff's handling of them in this accident - GREAT JOB
Great horsemanship, love the guy on the box that immediately jumped down. New horses in a team tend to be in the middle the vets are in the lead and wheel positions. Looks like one of the third pair tripped and took his partner down with him, horses aren't always as graceful as they look in the movies.
Praise good training and breeding. No supernatural bs required.

chane kawaihae How about PROVING your "supernatural" bullshit? Without the THEORIES of electromagnetism and Quantum, you wouldn't be typing on that machine. Get a clue.
What do u fucking expect, making 8 large Clydesdales turn on a tight circle pulling a heavy machine, or course they would fall.
Sincerely hope that the horses were ok from this accident. Does not seem appropriate arena (the width at least) for the horses to be in, although what matters is that the horses seemed to NOT be harmed. Such a glorious team.
Exceptional training.
omg i was so worried that the horse in the middle was crudhed and hurt. Were all of them ok?
such amazing calm horses wow!
They asked too much of a cut for that space. The horse the originally fell just didn't have the room for proper movement.
The turn was too tight. 2nd horse on the right side, slipped and went down. It looked scary. Wow,they are some amazing animals. :)
This is the Result of an improper negotiated turn. This team was turned too sharp. That was horrific.
Were they all OK?

Yes.
Well trained horses and staff. That music though... ugh.
Whose dumb idea to cram the entire team and wagon in to such a small arena?? There is literally no room.
Thank goodness they were uninjured
What great horses.
I got to meet these guys a few years back.
I live in Colorado and have been to Fort Collins to the Budweiser facility to meet these horses; they are beautiful, huge, calm and trained with the utmost care. However, I wish the announcer could have had a more soothing voice; what he was saying was inane.
I am almost thinking they were trained for things like this.
that arena is a little small for all them pulling that wagon!
They are trained in that situation to stay down till they say to get up :)
@Taylor Rhode &@Fantastic Ffion: No Shit... Of course you don't "Need" that many horses... it's a show... Accidents can happen in everything in life.
I believe that the area was very small for that type of event.....poor horses.....That was terrible..
hope you learned NOT TO FILM VERTICALLY.
The calmness of these animals during the situation is astonishing. You can tell there is major trust and care in the relationship between the Clydesdale and there handlers. I do question however why they where using so many of them to pull that size or a carriage in such a small area. That was a mistake that could have had major consequences for those horses and even the people on the carriage....
Way to small circle
GOD IS GOOD
Just thankful none of the horses got h
Just too tight turn on a cement bottomed arena
Thanks great miracle!
Take a smaler indoor end let theme go back one there back legs end there are 8 horsies one the grond. Burth good job trainers... Poor animals, its the trainers job to look at the indoor before you do something like this. It was all to small.
those horses were SOOOO calm. very impressive. the things us humans put animals through...
WOW hat's off to the ud team!
If they hadn't been turning in such a tight circle it probably wouldn't have happened...
if you put subtitles on they are so wrong lol
fleur halligan. ever heard of trust?
Amazing horses. But a really bad decision to go such a narrow circle... and the commentator talks and talks... unbelievable...

+Stefanie Gattinger He was talking to keep the audience calm and quiet. He mostly explained what was happening and making a good, educational moment out of a bad accident.
